tried just about everything. next i will try a friends phone but so far carplay is useless or intermittently useless. i put a support call to apple and says it may be my phone. i kinda doubt it. i have done all else that the internet has asked me, ie changed cables etc to no avail. carplay was a big reason i was gonna pick any car and the passport was on the list of compatible cars. i think someone lied to me on this issue. anyone ahving a good experience>??

Try it on one at your dealers. I use my X in my F150 daily. My passport is on order.

I have an iPhone X and CarPlay works great — I was listening to a podcast from it this evening. You have to use the port in front of the cup holders (I would prefer it to be inside the console like in the CRV, but oh well). Also, you may have to unlock your phone, although there’s an option to use it without unlocking it. I plug in the phone, then the CarPlay “icon” on the display becomes available. Press it and there it is.

then maybe it is my phone, or car play usb port, i have done all the things you have mentioned and then some lol

I would first try another phone, and if that didn’t work, reset the head-unit / display / stereo / back to factory settings. That will be a bit of pain because you’ll have to reprogram all your settings, but if it still doesn’t work after that, then I’d take it back to the dealer and make them prove to you that it’s not defective. Looks like several others have reported that it’s working fine for them, so it’s not an overall “Passport” issue. I had CarPlay in the 2017 CR-V Touring that was traded-in for the Passport, and it, too, worked fine, although in the Passport it’s much more responsive.

Good luck!

I am having issues with my iPhone X and the microphone cutting out. I will be in the middle of a call, and he person on the other end can no longer hear me. If I unplug the phone, plug it back in, it works again for a while.

Anyone else have this issue?

Sorry Phil, I have the same phone (Ten) and have only used it with carplay a few times, but each time it has worked fine, with no issues (or mic cutting out)... Have you tried switching USB Cables?

Mine works great with CarPlay and independently as a Bluetooth device with Spotify if I’m too lazy to take the phone out of my pocket.

No, but that's a good idea. I will try that. It's not like the carplay connection drops out, it's just the microphone.
I have this exact same problem where I'm on the phone (iPhone Xs; iOS 12.3.1) plugged into the front USB on CarPlay and the person on the other end just stops hearing me. Sometimes it happens right as I answer a call and they can't hear me. Sometimes it happens after a few minutes of talking. Also happens over Bluetooth. Did you ever find a solution?

no luck as yet, deaker/honda in denial stage of this. it 90% dosent work at all, can be intermittent...siri dosent work at all when in carplay mode so i cant dial out unless i unplug phone= so pretty useless. there will be more complaints and maybe honda will take ownership. i have yet to try MY iphone X w another passport but that could prove its the vehicle not the phone. not one person at dealer had a X. the bluetooth works very good but def sounds better when hardwired w carplay. there is no loaner car at my dealer so im gonna wait a bit. gonna keep an eye on the forums as well.

I am having this problem too. It is almost like my phone goes on mute. Any solutions?

Thanks!
