I am having issues with my iPhone X and the microphone cutting out. I will be in the middle of a call, and he person on the other end can no longer hear me. If I unplug the phone, plug it back in, it works again for a while.

Anyone else have this issue?

Do you have a Touring? That seems like the common thread.
One thing I have noticed, is that when the microphone cuts out, it seems to be after an alert on the phone.

Last time it happened, it cut out when an email arrived and the phone tried to sound the alert.

I think I will turn my notifications off while driving, and see if the microphone still cuts out.

This would explain the random intermittent of it all.

Yes, I was having issues with the microphone, but today the entire system just quit working. It just keep saying it can not make a connection, try again later. It is basically useless now.
I was able to get my Carplay back to working normal by following these instructions from another forum.

I was able to get CarPlay to connect consistently with my iPhone 6+ running 10.3.1 and my 2017 Honda CR-V Touring by deleting both profiles from the CarPlay section on iOS and then re-adding the phone via USB only. Here's what I did:

  • in General --> Settings --> CarPlay, I deleted both profiles (there was one for wired USB and one for wireless
  • in Honda --> Smartphone --> Apple (CarPlay), I deleted the entry for my phone
  • turned car off completely and then started again
  • wait for Honda system to turn on fully (i.e. wait until home screen appears)
  • connect iPhone via Apple USB-Lightning cable
  • in Honda --> Smartphone --> Apple (CarPlay), I re-added my phone
  • in General --> Settings --> CarPlay, confirm only one profile with option 'Allow CarPlay while locked'

The key was to only have that one profile in iOS CarPlay with that option (which indicates it's the profile for wired USB.) If you see another profile with the option to use CarPlay when phone is near car, that's the option for wireless (I deleted this profile... not clear that my car supports wireless CarPlay.)

Another indicator: if phone is unlocked, the menubar will turn blue if using wired USB connection for CarPlay, purple if using wireless CarPlay (or what it thinks is wireless CarPlay.)

Hope this can help some.

I am running iphone x also
maybe tomarrow but the iphone 10 i am running 12.3.1, ive tried everything honestly . but i will try yours in order u decribed maybe i will get lucky but doubt it lol
Don't bother, I just made another quick run in the passport and it's back to being useless.

Just out of curiosity, what carrier are you with? I am on Verizon.

I have had a lot of time to investigate this today. I have did the factory resets, played with wifi and network settings and only one thing has managed to restore Siri and internet functionality on my IPhone X.

While plugged into the Apple play USB and the car running, I held down the volume down and the big button on the right at the same time and forced a hard reset of the phone. For now, I have my functionality back. Let's see how long it lasts this time.

Today I took a road trip, and the entire system just crapped out on me. I received a call, and half way through, the sound on both ends dropped. The call was still connected and neither end could hear each other. I unplugged the phone, thinking Bluetooth should work, but nope. I disconnected and returned the call. After the call, I went to back listen to the XM radio and nothing. I switched to FM got the message No FM audio sources available.

I had to pull the car over to a rest area and do three start and restarts to get the audio system back. It seems as though carplay had locked the audio channel and would not let go or work properly.

This seems to be degrading every time I drive the car now.
