I have an iPhone X and CarPlay works great — I was listening to a podcast from it this evening. You have to use the port in front of the cup holders (I would prefer it to be inside the console like in the CRV, but oh well). Also, you may have to unlock your phone, although there’s an option to use it without unlocking it. I plug in the phone, then the CarPlay “icon” on the display becomes available. Press it and there it is.

I would first try another phone, and if that didn’t work, reset the head-unit / display / stereo / back to factory settings. That will be a bit of pain because you’ll have to reprogram all your settings, but if it still doesn’t work after that, then I’d take it back to the dealer and make them prove to you that it’s not defective. Looks like several others have reported that it’s working fine for them, so it’s not an overall “Passport” issue. I had CarPlay in the 2017 CR-V Touring that was traded-in for the Passport, and it, too, worked fine, although in the Passport it’s much more responsive.

Good luck!

ive done it all , sometimes it will work for a bit then it fails in that siri dosent work
Wow, this all sounds quite frustrating. I have an iPhone X, running 12.3.1, and it’s on Verizon, and CarPlay (and Siri) work fine on my Elite AWD. I listen to Podcasts, use Maps, and Siri to dictate and read text messages while I”m driving. I don’t talk a lot while driving, but when I do, I don’t have any mic or cutout issues. Siri’s responsiveness depends on the quality of the LTE connection, but that’s an issue whether I’m in the Passport or not. Sometimes the initial connection doesn’t work the first time, and I’ll have to unplug/replug it in. Also, CarPlay activates less consistently if I have the iPhone plugged-in before starting the car — I usually wait until the head unit is up and running before plugging-in the phone. Incidentally, Siri also works when on Bluetooth by pressing the talk button on the steering wheel. I don’t think the Passport supports wireless CarPlay, but I haven’t messed with that.

... now, if I could only get Apple Music to quit randomly deciding which music to leave on my iPhone (and iPad/Macs), and which music to stick back into the cloud, I’d be much happier :)

Good luck with CarPlay issues and please keep everyone posted with whatever solution fixes is.
