Greetings Red Suns,
You saved my vacation. My journey started in the bay area. I was doing well with my preparations because my A1 maintenance minder came on Friday night. Just a couple of days before we were going to embark on our vacation. Therefore, we had time for my little guy to get his oil changed, tires rotated and a bath.
He was still dirty from our Tahoe bike riding adventure. We were headed down to Del Mar to bet on the ponies, cheer on our finally 500 Giants +2 over and surf. My surf board attached perfectly and there was very little noise coming into cabin and stayed on the whole ride... I was a little OCD looking at it through the moon roof. Stopped at Black Bear dinner and fueled up the little guy before hitting the grape vine. Little guy was a beast over the vine. Then I thought my little guy has been problem free so I will plug in waze to our infotainment system. Life was going well because got off of 5 and found a better path to the beach. Then the beep happened and everything was ok but then the beep happened again. Still fine but then I unplugged car play because got back onto 5 after not too much of a circuitous route and decided to go back to garmin navigation. Well then the navigation system would not chirp to me and just showed the car. Was not too concerned but then when finally made it to our destination the infotainment system would not turn off and the backup camera was not working. But luckily, I remembered your post and ran to target because was going to close at 11:00. Got my 8.99 keyboard ( on clearance) and I am operational again. Sorry for being so verbose but want others to know my experience. And I should have been a better boyscout like Homer and had one handy in my car. Thanks to you I get to enjoy my waves instead of getting my car towed do to a dead battery.
High Five!

There is a system problem. You are trying to make something work around the problem rather than demanding HONDA address the problem, that is, fix it. Mine is in the shop currently. Too much money to accept something I have to figure a way to make function.
honda is in denial so far w me. the dealers wait for honda to acknowledge problem so they will get paid im guessing lol. my carplay is useless but i wanna wait till they know exactly what to do. my dealer has no loaners so not much of a choice.

My experience suggests your problems are due to Honda defects, that the service rep repeated to me that "Honda is aware of the problems". I video and audio recorded the problem such that when the Honda dealer knew there is a problem. Infotainment system, wire harness and instrument panel component is being replace this day at the instruction of "Honda" not the dealer. expecting the problem to be resolved. Given the problem menu safety issues are there. Speed undetected at times, Display screen does not provide back up information and who know what other safety devices are connected to these systems. have a great day. BTW California as i read may be suing Honda over Dis[play issues. Display issues go back a couple of years.

FWIW there's a class-action lawsuit for the same infotainment system in the Pilot and Odyssey:

Issues like this is really making me reconsider getting another Honda/Acura product. Cars have problems, that's fine, but the fact that they don't own up and fix them is worrying indeed.
Agreed. There is a manufacturer i am aware of that has had taillight degradation problems and an A/C switch that disconnects the A/C repeatedly requiring a motor restart to have A/C over multiple model years. I personally addressed Chrysler years ago about an electrical gangbox short. Junk yards in my search were full of vehicles with the same problem. Boxes were hard to find. It turned out the problem was a leaking seam allowing rainwater to spill over the gangbox shorting. I agree it is for these reasons I cannot consider nor do i recommend either for a purchase. If Honda is attending to this forum they need to stay clear of the "ignore the dissatisfied customer because there is one on the next block" attitude.

Picked up the "repaired"Passport this afternoon. Was having problems daily. Was told this is the latest "Honda" problem solution. Was not told all issues are solved. That was not established. I suspect the issues will find their way back in the system. Until the Feds get involved the issues will continue. What was established was backup camera, speedometer, backup object sensor , and the lane departure sensors are affected. That in my opinion is worthy of federal intervention.

Well, the popping and the cutoff noise problem got finally fixed!
1st time, Reported the problem. Got my car back the next day and they said they cannot duplicate the problem.
2nd time, Brought the car in with a recorded video with the noise doing it. Got my car back again the next day they said they updated the firmware and it should be good to go.
3rd time, Brought my car while the noise is doing it, they’ve heard it, thankfully(thought I was going crazy). They were slapping the driver’s dashboard and they can duplicate the noise while doing it.
Same as closing any doors, the noise and cutoffs happens(figured this myself and told them about it). They kept my car for 2 days and they said they re-wired a “loose harness” under the driver’s dashboard.
4th time, They kept my car for almost a week. They said they dug up and re-wired a lot of stuff and figured there was another “loose harness”. Whatever they did, I don’t seem to encounter that problem anymore.
Swear, I almost had it.
That popping noise and cutoffs gets so annoying. It even came to the point where it does it even if my audio was OFF.
But I’m good now.
Soon, I will try that Waze issue if I get that on my Passport.
I have never used Waze while on CarPlay before. Was using Maps all the time. Love how the Maps app show the number of lanes while navigating.

How frequent was the popping out of curiosity? I hear it occasionally but at this point it’s not worth dropping the car off at a dealer for more than a day to get serviced. That may change in the future though.
Right after 3+ miles or I’d say randomly most of the time. It gets in and out.
Definitely gets annoying.
Anyway, I just drove 20+ miles today. Using Waze on CarPlay.
Everything seems ok.
I encountered single glitch where the infotainment did not start, was just black screen. All I did was parked and restart the engine.
Other than that, never encountered anything else but that popping noise and cutoffs.

No radio signal this am. Fine this pm. I just wonder what the issue is. Where are all of the complaints? Is the issue isolated to a part run, an installation or what? Seems as though this site should be teaming with complaints.

Oh yeah, I have that “no signal” thing for 2 times.
It rarely happens.
Hopefully that issue is fixed too.

Passport returned to the dealer 2 days ago. Same problems as before the Honda repair. At what point is it determined this vehicle is not safe to drive? The speedometer reads intermittently. If the display is on I may see on the screen where there is a data connection loss. Are my safety features set to possibly malfunction in a dangerous way? Cruise control. lane departure, collision warning.........?

Android auto problems 2019 passport ex-l

Radio on.. slow to aquire stations... Volume non and indicator show changed volume level....but no sound. On am or fm

Also changing stations. Slows and get messages indicating cannot find but than connects but no sound

I retesting that Waze. Navigation voice works ... But radio is soundless

Has happened three times

Dealer has car and video of problem

Honda NA.. thinking about it. Starting to diagnose by checking all wire connections to tunner and head end and antenna..

So Android auto is a problem as well

I haven't had any issues with android auto at all.

I have had my new 2019 Passport for about three weeks. Twice now the infotainment system stopped working. Both times, I was using Apple Play and Waze. A loud beep came on and then nothing. No Apple Play, no radio, ...nothing. The display was on (in fact it wouldn't turn off even when the car was off) and I was not able to use the radio (check tuner message appeared) or an other features. When I would try to check Bluetooth I got a message that said the car was still in motion even though I was parked. I took it to the dealer who took out a fuse and reset the system. That worked for about two days and then it happened again. Any ideas? I have an appointment at the dealership but I am not optimistic. I do not want to have to reset the fuse every time I use Waze. I have read on other forums that using a USB keyboard to Cntl-Alt-Del will also work to reset the system but who wants to keep a keyboard in their car? Is anyone else having this problem?
Have had service twice for display on after engine off, display off, loss of radio signal. Loss of data signal, loss of speedometer/ notification screen frozen display. Exchanged display, connection cable and speedometer module. Now Honda wants to exchange radio to solve returning issues.
