Omg this is too strange, i was just about to write everyone to let them know about my adventure to the dealer to help me turn off the touch screen as it wouldnt shut off and then i read this thread it describes exactly what happened to me. Except the dealer disconnected the battery to reset the system and it is back to factory settings.

I was using waze and carplay when it happened. Now what? I dont think i will chance waze again!
It isn't Waze. It is the car. Me thinks it is a connection problem. Filmed the problem. Screen flickers on camera. Intermittent systems shut down. Intermittent screen of/on and instrument panel with and without bumps.

Ditto. It was a VERY close call for me.
It is not an app problem. It is the car.
Goodbye Waze. Not taking the chance. Thanks for the info everyone. I will use google maps or my or my cars Garmin. This is when reading the forums can pay off.
It is the car not waze. my new passport intermittent infotain screen black out instrument pane blacks out speaker black out radio backout data black out infotain screen stays in after locking doors for an extended period of time. i suggest it is electrical or hardware. Filmed my problems will be at dealer Monday.

Hello! I have never had Waze and mine still messes up. It is the pic I posted that when those 2 boxes get unchecked on blue tooth - carplay will not work. They just randomly uncheck themselves. Could not get the problem to duplicate at dealer. System is fully updated. Then I had the issue with the transmission. I was on a hill, let off brake it did not hold at all - barely rolled back and made a noise and the Passport motor was dead and the car went into Neutral. Did this twice with me could not duplicate at dealer. Had an issue that sometimes when the A/C was on auto, it would not cool, I had to switch to A/C on. Many years ago I had a Pilot and did not have the first problem with it at all. The front seat comfort in the passport on long drives is not what I expected but I think that is me and not the Passport. I love the AWD system and some other features but all of these other things are really annoying. I do not get it - it is mainly a shorter, wider, Higher Pilot and should not have these issues. It was aggravating me and I was concerned that if this turns out to be subpar quality, you can forget that great Honda value that they all retain. I stopped by a Ford Dealer ship and looked at the 2019 Ford Ranger 4X4. Drove it. The Passport is just a tad smoother on a slow take off but Wow!, that lil 2.3 Eco Boost would haul butt and gets 20 mpg in town and 24 on hwy. Seats are very comfortable up front, no where near the room in the back but I hardly have that many in back seat, we usually are hauling gear or dogs. I hate losing money and did not think that they would do much but they got me right above the amount I was willing to eat so I traded and they had to get it from another dealer and I pick it up today. I think Honda has great reliability but just too many problems with mine with 1,400 miles on it. I will miss the Passport and hope that all of you get all the kinks worked out of yours so that you can enjoy them to their fullest. I do have the pics of the Bluetooth settings that you need to make sure are checked so that carplay works. Just reply on this or to my e-mail and I will be glad to send them to you. chuck.rey@live.com .
RE: Ranger. That vehicle is a cheap imitation of a mid sized truck. I don't trust the longevity of the little motor and turbo if anything heavier than air is towed. I am a FORD man. 2015 GT 1996 F250 diesel 1982 Mustang 1975 Mustang 1979 F250 460

Mine does this constantly, I have found a work a round, but this is nuts on a new car.

If you have the car turned on and the phone plugged into the carplay USB slot, you can do a hard reset on the phone and Siri will work again, for a while,

I have had nothing but trouble with carplay, mine completely shut down while driving down the interstate yesterday. The whole thing, FM radio would not even work. I had to pull over and restart the car 3 times to get it back.
It appears you are accepting of systemic problems?

My experience suggests your problems are due to Honda defects, that the service rep repeated to me that "Honda is aware of the problems". I video and audio recorded the problem such that when the Honda dealer knew there is a problem. Infotainment system, wire harness and instrument panel component is being replace this day at the instruction of "Honda" not the dealer. expecting the problem to be resolved. Given the problem menu safety issues are there. Speed undetected at times, Display screen does not provide back up information and who know what other safety devices are connected to these systems. have a great day. BTW California as i read may be suing Honda over Dis[play issues. Display issues go back a couple of years.

FWIW there's a class-action lawsuit for the same infotainment system in the Pilot and Odyssey:

Issues like this is really making me reconsider getting another Honda/Acura product. Cars have problems, that's fine, but the fact that they don't own up and fix them is worrying indeed.
Agreed. There is a manufacturer i am aware of that has had taillight degradation problems and an A/C switch that disconnects the A/C repeatedly requiring a motor restart to have A/C over multiple model years. I personally addressed Chrysler years ago about an electrical gangbox short. Junk yards in my search were full of vehicles with the same problem. Boxes were hard to find. It turned out the problem was a leaking seam allowing rainwater to spill over the gangbox shorting. I agree it is for these reasons I cannot consider nor do i recommend either for a purchase. If Honda is attending to this forum they need to stay clear of the "ignore the dissatisfied customer because there is one on the next block" attitude.
honda is in denial so far w me. the dealers wait for honda to acknowledge problem so they will get paid im guessing lol. my carplay is useless but i wanna wait till they know exactly what to do. my dealer has no loaners so not much of a choice.
Picked up the "repaired"Passport this afternoon. Was having problems daily. Was told this is the latest "Honda" problem solution. Was not told all issues are solved. That was not established. I suspect the issues will find their way back in the system. Until the Feds get involved the issues will continue. What was established was backup camera, speedometer, backup object sensor , and the lane departure sensors are affected. That in my opinion is worthy of federal intervention.

Right after 3+ miles or I’d say randomly most of the time. It gets in and out.
Definitely gets annoying.
Anyway, I just drove 20+ miles today. Using Waze on CarPlay.
Everything seems ok.
I encountered single glitch where the infotainment did not start, was just black screen. All I did was parked and restart the engine.
Other than that, never encountered anything else but that popping noise and cutoffs.
No radio signal this am. Fine this pm. I just wonder what the issue is. Where are all of the complaints? Is the issue isolated to a part run, an installation or what? Seems as though this site should be teaming with complaints.

Passport returned to the dealer 2 days ago. Same problems as before the Honda repair. At what point is it determined this vehicle is not safe to drive? The speedometer reads intermittently. If the display is on I may see on the screen where there is a data connection loss. Are my safety features set to possibly malfunction in a dangerous way? Cruise control. lane departure, collision warning.........?

I have had my new 2019 Passport for about three weeks. Twice now the infotainment system stopped working. Both times, I was using Apple Play and Waze. A loud beep came on and then nothing. No Apple Play, no radio, ...nothing. The display was on (in fact it wouldn't turn off even when the car was off) and I was not able to use the radio (check tuner message appeared) or an other features. When I would try to check Bluetooth I got a message that said the car was still in motion even though I was parked. I took it to the dealer who took out a fuse and reset the system. That worked for about two days and then it happened again. Any ideas? I have an appointment at the dealership but I am not optimistic. I do not want to have to reset the fuse every time I use Waze. I have read on other forums that using a USB keyboard to Cntl-Alt-Del will also work to reset the system but who wants to keep a keyboard in their car? Is anyone else having this problem?
Have had service twice for display on after engine off, display off, loss of radio signal. Loss of data signal, loss of speedometer/ notification screen frozen display. Exchanged display, connection cable and speedometer module. Now Honda wants to exchange radio to solve returning issues.

Thanks for the info. Honda called me yesterday regarding the replacement radio. The radio is on back order. The vehicle has been with them for a week now and no time can be determined for replacement arrival. The vehicle is clearly unsafe to drive. The speedometer and safety warning screen go blank intermittently as part of the problem menu. The Honda rep either did not understand the issue or ignored it. Honda provides no loaner, which I understand. However given the safety issue something must be done. Will be at Honda service dept this afternoon to determine if the vehicle in their opinion is safe to drive. and if not what will Honda do to provide relief. This is the third time this vehicle has been in their shop for a total of 10 days and how many more are not certain. Honda should step up.

Idk why they are not providing you a loaner car. Try to brag about how much you’ve been paying for ur rental car. Put pressure on those guys.
Perhaps if I speed through a school zone I could be taken seriously. I today stressed to service mgr that if he could not at this time say the vehicle is safe to drive how could I. Honda Rep needs to see blood to understand. Honda seems insulated from the customer.

My system seems to be working okay, but I've been getting a cracking noise through the speakers ( first time it happened I thought a pebble hit the windshield). When I go in for first service I'm going to mention it.
Unsure of the reality, but service mgr mentioned during a review of all of my problems that the popping issue has to do with the sounding of the touch screen. Modify the sound control volume of the touch screen such that your touch to the screen is muted. Bottomline though Honda should be addressing this issue rather than an avoid tactic. Hopefully, this issue will not be considered a "characteristic." as the auto manufacturers like to call behaviors of a vehicle that will not cause death.

The gods of Honda have shown me favor. I am thankful. Earlier in the week it became unknown as to exactly when a replacement radio would be received to correct the intermittent lack of the speedometer screen. Yesterday I was told the unit would be installed today. Picked the vehicle up this afternoon with the repair. Hopefully, The intermittent speedometer problem along with the others are fixed. Thank you Honda. I have complained I have felt like you don't have my back.

check your states lemon laws and process. most states have great relief under the warranty the lemon laws provide which may be different then the manufacturer's warranty...
Honda has had 2 trials for repair.
i have had no signal or no sound 4 times..
service has had the car for 11 days now. (two months old.. 2500 miles)
I have the sound failure on video...the dealer sent it to honda.

They said they will replace the tuner... but 11 days later they still have my new passport.. at least I have a loaner from them...

law suit from accura/honda owners over infotainment issues as above apparently filed in california and moving forward...
If you only have radio loss, then why are y

Honda has had 2 times to fix the menu of problems. The vehicle drove a little over 1000 miles after the first attempted fix. We are hoping, as we are unsure, the repair has been made. We like the vehicle. We as of yet not had a loner. The unit has been with Honda collectively more than 10 days of inconvenience given that the problem is not isolated to one vehicle andthe loss of the speedometer a safety issue recognixzed by Honda. Honda gets one more opportunity to make right if the need arises.

Loaner at times appears to be a dealer decision..

One of my dealer decisions is not only PRICE but also loaner policy.. I always call service before buying a vehicle and ask their policy on loaners. If the answer is anything beyond.. WE PROVIDE A LOANER IF THE REPAIR IS expected to be longer than 3 hours.... then i look for another dealer in the area to buy from..

One dealer started the well we call honda na and ask them if it will be covered... I move on immediately.. If they had the best price another dealer will typically meet or beat it.

I have looked at loaner policy for the last 40 years.. It is a business model that some dealers think is important and others do not.... Also I have begun to make sure te dealer offers the brand of vehicle I have purchased. I do not want to have a volvo or mercedes and have them pay for or provide a nissan or a ford.. I want the size and safety and comfort of what I purchased not just 4 wheels... Some dealers now have an enterprise or similar rental concession in their building.. They pay the bill but it is whatever the rental company has for vehicles.

I hope your vehicle is fixed!!

Loaner for a malfunctioning radio... Honda must think there is more to it or they would not have the car for 12 days at this point in time.. THE VIDEO from my cell phone is solid gold as to proof of problem.. and the dealership values that proof in their dealing with honda NA.. THe dealer is my advocate.......

Malfunctioning radio takes your eyes off the road while trying to correct... a very real safety issue..

YMMV
Quite an impressive post.
