Don't own a leaf blower but have a small motorcycle "dryer" (same concept). Thought about it but in the Florida warmth you gotta move fast drying otherwise you get water spots. :(

AEM Intake installed today. Part 21-795C.

My personal notes about the installation.

Steps referenced below are found in this PDF (instructions): https://www.aemintakes.com/instructions/AEM-21-795_inst.pdf

[1] Unless I completely overlooked something, you cannot complete step 1d (disconnect negative battery terminal) until you have completed step 2b and 2g as that is the only way to get to the battery to disconnect the negative battery terminal.

[2] The tab for the lower attachment point for the heat shield (“behind the battery box”) had to be slightly bent down for fitment. Step 3f. Not sure if that’s what you’re supposed to do but that’s what I had to do to get it to line-up.

[3] I could not get the coupler to line up to my satisfaction. It was more of a struggle than I would have liked. Directions say to attach at the throttle body (3h) and then attach the intake tube (3j). No way that was happening for me. The lower part of the coupler kept folding in when trying to insert the intake tube. I had to attach the coupler to the intake tube and then attach to the throttle body.

[4] Um, there is an extra part? Item No. 5, vacuum cap. *shrug*

[5] The only way to get to the positive battery terminal will be to remove the heat shield. See my picture below. You can see how the heat shield is directly over the battery terminal. Not a fan of this design; need to look into how I can bend that part of heat shield enough so you would not have to remove it to get to the battery terminal.

Initial driving impressions are that it is not loud at all. Don’t get me wrong, you can hear it a bit but it’s nothing like the K&N I had in my Jeep Wrangler (JK). Granted I only drove it for a few miles after the install with a rig full of people. I’ll stomp on it more tomorrow for further impressions. Therefore, no judgment yet on whether it’s worth the $300 price tag at this time.

The 'extra part' vacuum cap is meant to attach to the heat shield where it hangs over the battery in the large hole. I think it's just so the heat shield can rest on the battery more snuggly without causing vibrations.

You'll hear it when vtec kicks in.

Thanks bro.

Yes, I went all in so I have the option to tow up to 5,000 lbs. The ATF cooler is necessary to have the max available for towing. It was one of the items on the parts list installed by the dealer. Yeah, wasn't inexpensive (at least to me), parts and installation was $2,000 but I will add when I was negotiating my purchase the dealer moved on the trade-in value to get to my price point. They did not move on their hitch install cost. FWIW another dealer quoted me $1,600 for the same components with installation -- but they would not move on their selling price. End of the day I was able to purchase at my price with the hitch components installed. (y) (y) (y)
$2k for a hitch is absolutely crazy. A hitch is a hitch and this dealer enjoyed charging a premium price. Unreal.

A couple of quick vids put together.

AEM INTAKE
Unless the microphone is located near the exhaust exits, this sounds like it is the 'fake' sound generated from the engine manifold area thru a sound tube and exits the instrument panel and thus entering the cockpit.
I had a Ford Focus RS with this fake feature and I disengaged it.

Not necessarily true. I added several more components beyond "just a hitch" to my rig.

Trailer hitch
Trailer harness
Hands free tailgate adapter
ATF cooler kit

^ Thanks!

Fun stuff today: several techs and salesmen can over to look at my HP today. LOL. One guy said to me, "That certainly doesn't look like a Honda!" Another said, "I need to get our manager over here so we can spec one like that for the showroom floor." Ha.

Huh? You can definitely hear the AEM intake. Different sound in the cabin when you're on the throttle.

The engine sound may or may not be "generated" but one thing that's a disappointment for me is the complete lack of exhaust note. Some day that will be changed. Just don't have the courage to perform surgery on the OEM exhaust.

its crazy because the passport does have a much better exhaust sound than my ridge did with the aem. maybe i notice it more because im at higher elevation. you could have a muffler shop cut out your exhaust resonator and weld in a straight pipe. cheap to do, easy to undo, and maintains a clean stock look. you could get a high flow cat as well. im my experience full exhaust on a j35 sounds like poo.

a good muffler should could remove the resonator at the flanges and fab a straight pipe with flanges as well.
