Guys another option which works really well is a 275/45/20

The advantage to this size is that the new tire is only 1% larger in diameter but actually almost an inch taller then stock and almost 4% wider. The added side wall height creates more ground clearance and softens the ride over stock.

Plus it rolls at only 9 revolutions per mile slower than the stock fitment so you don’t kill the low end.

And if you go with an all terrain tire you can get a great off road look but not sacrificing street manners.

I’ve got Cooper Zenon LTZ’s on my Elite and love them!

I was REALLY considering those Cooper's on the OEM wheels too. But I personally cannot get past the gloss wheels so I went extreme: 17" wheels.

Sorry for the delay. Here are the promised pictures. At a full turn lock there's about 1/2 clearance between the tire and wheel well liner.

I can confirm absolutely NO rubbing - ever

Just got the 265/50/20 tires mount today, it fit just fine. No rubbing issues at all.

Thanks. I am really pleased with them. On a side note, had to do an emergency stop last night.
Guy slammed on his breaks right in front of me. Fortunately I wasn't following to closely.

The passport transfers all it's weight to the front real quick and will overload the tires and they will squeal in general even on the stock set up. With these though, I stopped really quick since there's so much rubber on the road

I had put some custom wheels on my CRV that still had a 2-3 inches of clearance and they were fine when it was just me, but one time I had to put 5 people (all adult sized) In it with backpacks and a few pelican cases and with the added weight, I was hitting the wheel well.

Fortunately, it had not been too long that I had the tires and Discount Tire swapped them out for me.

you should be fine then. I probably had about that same weight. It was extremely noticeable!

Those look nice. However, I can say from experience that that inner fender clearance at full lock will be an issue in the winter with ice buildup.

Awesome setup! Quick question: I’m a noob in terms of tire clearances. I’m looking to buy a passport next year and think your tire setup of 175/45/20 is perfect. JSport just released a lift kit (1.5 in front .75 in rear). You stated you have about a half inch of clearance with the wheel fully turned. With this new lift kit just released, do you think that half inch of sidewalk clearance will increase in any way since the car is slighter higher? I’m just a little nervous because I live in New England and we do get ice buildup on tighter wheel wells.

Hi guys, after doing some research I have decide go with 265/50/20 tires (Nitto Terra grabler G2)on stock elite wheel. Since I don't do much off roading, just occasionally drive my car on the beach for suf fishing. I think it is over kill to get a new set of 18s. I just want aggressive look of bigger tires. I will post some pics this coming Tuesday, hope the ride quality is better than stock tires.

These look great! I was wondering if this same size (265/50 R20) would work with the EX-L wheel, which is 8” wide and comes with 245/50 R20. compared to your wheels that are 8.5” wide. Any advice would be appreciated for a reliable ride (no rubbing) and improving the look.
