So I pulled the trigger on an Obsidian Blue/Gray interior Touring AWD. Selling price $37250 with Honda $500 military discount. With tax/tag/fees/'protection' package , $42780 out the door. Includes 24 mo/24k free maintenance and 3rd party lifetime warranty. Tampa Honda. Sooooo, She Who Must Be Obeyed is pleased! We'll be trading in our '17 CRV (also blue/gray!) because SWMBO fell in love with the Passport at first look and wanted AWD, even though she likes the CRV very much. She likes sitting higher like her old Odyssey did. Was tough to get a non-Elite AWD in Florida, but they are there. 2 new cars for her in 15 months. That's it for the foreseeable future! My turn next...

I'm pretty annoyed at my dealer right now. They are charging $1395 for floor mats, splash guards, cargo mat and nitro tires on a PP they got from another dealer. They say I agreed to it. I say they didn't give me the itemized list and didn't agree. I certainly wouldn't have agreed to that price. I'm ready to walk even though they have $1000 on a credit card. I'll then dispute it if I have to. I proposed they throw in a couple additional items and we'll do the deal. Will wait to see what they come up with.

So I had a long talk with my salesman today. I guess I have to take him at his word with a bit of skepticism. He said there are no Honda factory to dealer incentives on the PP now, nor room for "hold-backs". The deal they did for me, matching a USAA/TrueCar quote from another dealership is a loss for them as there is dealer to dealer transfer fees on the car they found and other fees. It's because I purchased our CRV from them 15 mos ago that they consented to do this deal and wouldnt have otherwise. They'll make their $ back by reselling the CRV at a markup. I hope he was being truthful and transparent as possible. I think we'll go with it.

I actually started with CarGurus.com, then TrueCar and the salesperson I was working with was able to get his dealer to beat it after I told them I could probably get it for less through Costco. However, Tampa is very competitive. At least 5 dealers in the immediate Tampa area, 4 in Orlando and another 2-3 within 2 hours. I worked it with many and TH matched. We went with them as they are the closest to us.

Bought mine at Tampa Honda and got almost the same % off. It was the 2nd purchase from them in a year. They met the TrueCar price which was lower than the Costco price. The Touring AWD I got actually came from Crown. Wasn’t pleased with all the crap they put on it, but oh well. Lots of competition in the Tampa/St Pete area, south to Sarasota and east to Orlando. You can get a good price out there.

I believe they can charge whatever they want...Honda dealers outside of Florida will not sell Hondacare to Florida residents.
State law in FL states these types of insurance policies cannot be sold at any discount. If you have any other address it can be sent to, Saccucci and others will sell it.
