Oh...I’ve been thinking about this. Are you a modern steel color?
Can you post a photo of the entire back end with the blacked out emblems?

My neighbor kinda talked me out of painting my emblems. He pointed out I still have so much chrome and it would probably look odd? I am a modern steel.

I did the chrome emblems on my red S2000 about 5 years ago. They are still all black.

Yes, mine is a modern steel, and I think it looks much better with the back emblems blacked out. I'll get a pic of the entire back posted pronto. I simply used a few coats of plasti dip. There are a few hundred Youtube clips on how to do it, and its really easy. And I left my emblems alone on my NFR S2000 but clacked out the ones on my Rio Yello Pearl S :)

Thanks! Look forward to the photo. I just need to see the way they look to decide on doing this or not.

I hope I am not sounding overly critical, because I have Modern Steel too and would love to black out the chrome Passport, but in the photo, I see a lot of surface bumps on the "T" and see some other pits/bumps/anomalies on some of the other letters as well.

Now I'm sure from a few feet away these might not be readily seen, but the only way I'm gonna black-out my letters if it looks perfectly smooth and "factory" looking finish on them.

That’s also what stopped me. I’ve also looked at just removing them, but then I just too, away it’s identity. Plus, many said it starts peeling in a year!

I also have to see what Mezzfin’s H center back emblem looks like. I don’t know if I’d like it blacked out and not sure it would look ok left in its original form with the other emblems blacked out.

Not the greatest shot, but you can get sense of how it looks/feels.
I was just talking about you!

WOW - that looks awesome!

Did you do it yourself? And if so, which product did you use?

I was telling Steven, I worry about one little bubble or something and it would drive me nuts!
Plus, I was reading some say it only lasts a year?

The great thing about plasti dip is how you can remove and stat over. I did a hurried job, so that accounts for the roughness. I did the same to my Subie XT and that's held up great for the past 3 years, so applying 4-5 coats and taking your time pays off. Maybe i'll peel and restart this weekend :)

Nice! I have a feeling I might be plasti dipping this weekend!

Which one did you use?

And is it best to spray it and then let it sit for 24 hours or so before a road trip?
I was thinking about a 90 mile trip to the Ventura area tomorrow or Sunday.

This is the regular flat black. Recoats in about 30 min, good to drive in an hour.
Great - thanks for the inspiration!
I’ve got it on my list for Home Depot or Lowe’s today!

And was one can enough?

I did PlastiDip on the front bumper insert and front and rear logos on my GTI and it lasted years...I was thinking about doing the emblems on the passport but mine is touring, and the touring badge is not the same as the elite so it would look like a black rectangle

x3 coats. Gotta say, my anxiety is thru the roof...

How many coats did you put on? I’ve read to to 4 or 5, 15-30 minutes dry time between each one.
