I emailed a pre-sales question to Acura 3 weeks ago. I got a reply today. That's 3 WEEKS, not days.

I think they've looked at the statistics of how many people buy "rugged off-road" style vehicles and never drive over anything taller than a speedbump and see the future dollar signs rolling in for the Passport.

Here's the non-answer I got from Honda to the first of two messages I sent them. They said to contact a dealer. I contacted one dealer and they won't sell the 2019 Passport w/ the 245/60R18 wheels/tires (same as Ridgeline/Pilot). Other Honda dealers *might* be more flexible.

Well, if they hear all this complaining and don't sell as many Passports as they thought.
Maybe they will change the 2020 Passport with a Black Edition, and put 18's on the lower 2 trim levels.
It would be to much to expect to get the 6-speed on the lower trims, and, or the 10-speed on the
Upper trims.

Can someone tell me if I’m crazy because I don’t have any issues with Honda’s 9 speed transmission?
I’m trying to find issues with it but I’m having trouble.

We all griped about the 20" wheels when the Passport was released, but it's no reason to totally dismiss getting one. This is barely a problem. It's so easy to find and put 18" wheels and tires on a Passport. With little effort you can track down OEM take-offs or even buy exact replicas online. People switch wheels and wheel sizes all the time on every make and model vehicle out there. Now if you really MUST have a panoramic sunroof, then yes, you better look for another car.
You aren't crazy. I have a 2017 Pilot and while the transmission is not perfect I don't think it deserves the beating it takes on here. Way better than the 5 speed in my 2007 Honda Accord v6. Around 35 mph it didn't know what gear it was in.

After trying Pilot, Passport and 4Runner, I'm enjoying it more and more

Well, its on many different reviews about that issue.
You can look up Donna's thread on this forum.....Near death experience on day 5.
If you buy the new Hondas 18" wheels at their price, you would have to sell the 20"s at a
low price on E-Bay. After seeing the Plastic Wheel (chromtec) covers on the Limited Highlander.
Toyota would not down grade them for me, so the lower trims have better alloys.
So no help from Toyota about this, so no Limited sale from me.

1. Don't buy overpriced wheels from a dealer. Check eBay or post a WTB (wanted to buy) on the Ridgeline or Pilot forum.
2. Why sell your 20" wheels at a low price? Set a price that's good for you. Make money.

While the internet has pretty much opened up a world of information to us all, it also has its pitfalls and one of the biggest is "negative reviews"! I'm sure you've all seen it, you go to Yelp to read about your favorite pizza joint and there is a slew of bad reviews, someones pizza was too cold, someone thought it didn't have enough cheese, or the delivery was late, and this goes on and on. Look at your local car dealers on Yelp and I'm sure they will have a ton of bad reviews.
My guess is that the internet allows us to voice any negative things while the majority of the patrons who like something, don't leave positive reviews, which could skew overall perceptions.
I'm reasonably convinced that this Honda 9-speed tranny has thousands (if not millions) of satisfied users and that the few people who have had issues or the people who have heard of people having issues perpetuate this.
I've watched a couple of dozen Passport driving reviews and it seems like maybe 20-25% of the informed reviewers mention the previous 9-speed tranny shifting issues, however very, very few of the reviews mention that the problem is still there.

I second that on negative reviews because how often do you see people raving about how good something was? If everyone did then all the negative feedback would be hard to see and in fact almost ignored. Its the same thing with restaurants, and just about anything that can be reviewed.

I have cooper AT3 4S all terrian 265/50/20 on my touring . They fit no problem, but don’t go any taller . Tech it is only 1/2 inch high, an 1/2 inch higher off the ground . I’ve turned the wheels all the way to right or left while moving . No rubbing . But don’t go any bigger . Not for extreme off road . Looks sharp .
