2019 Passport: Please Post your Price Paid

Seems like a good time to start this thread, we all really appreciate the help, after your purchase could you please tell us:

Actually, you can tell us any other details you want, but the above are the most helpful!
Because every state has different Tax & Registration fees.
Also please state US or Canadian dollars.

Vehicle Traded------------- 2010 Subaru Outback 3.6R Premium
Trade-in down payment--- $9,300
Price out the door was approximately $44,500 (TT&L, $499 dealer fee)

Purchased in Alabama but titled in Florida.

Had another offer for $44,600 out the door. Vehicle price was $39,915 with $500 military discount, but $799 doc fee and a $1200 dealer package (nitrogen, pinstripe, wheel locks, paint protection, etc) raised the price.

Feel pretty good about the deal and my wife absolutely loves the new vehicle. Can't wait to put some miles on.

Thanks. We really enjoyed the Outback...9 years and zero problems. If the Outback had 5K towing capability it would have made the decision more difficult. The Ascent (tows 5K) is really nice, but the size, 3 rows of seating, and the idea of towing with a turbo 4 didn't appeal to us. I was almost going to pull the trigger on an RTL-E Ridgeline, but once the Passport was announced the search was over.

Is that Honda Care a good deal? What does it cover?

Honda also offers a maintenance plan that may be discounted further if purchased at the same time through some dealerships. The maintenance plan for 48 months and 60k miles is $855 (additional $200 discount) and covers all required maintenance from the maintenance minder, to include oil changes, cabin filter changes, etc. The $1395 price for HondaCare is pretty much dealer cost... So about as low as you can get.

Fur a quote on different policy terms check out College Hills, Saccucci, or Hyannis Honda. These the routinely provide the lowest price for the Honda are policies. You can purchase from any dealer, so be sure to shop around.

Personally I think you should be able to get another $1500 to $2000 discount. There are quite a few dealers out there willing to discount further.

Check CarGurus.com for the model you are looking for then extend the search nationally and check the prices. If you are willing to travel you can use that as leverage. A $200 airplane ticket is worth saving a thousand or more dollars.

Hard to decipher with trade in and unknown of your states feesfor tax and title
But
2019 Passport Elite is $44725.00 including 995 for destination charges.

44725- 7000 = 37725.00

Assuming 2000 for tax tags = 39725.00

Subtract the 995 destination (padded) fee

We are not at $387330.

Puts you payin 1270 for a CD player and car mats .

So I would say you are basically paying MSRP. No great deal.

And this is assuming they are giving you a good trade in value.

How did you value your trade. That can also make a big difference ?

China had been rapidly developing their car manufacturing ability. They were late to the party, used to just do their best to copy other automakers cars. Now they have their own designs. But I think their eye is on electric vehicle domination.

But it will be awhile before we see it.

I have not purchased anything yet but for what is worth, I wanted to post what I have been quoted by Autonation in South Florida:

2019 Passport Touring 2WD - $40,239 + tax.

Given that MSRP for this specific vehicle is about $39,280, I assume they're just adding $800 doc fee and standard fees on top so no real discount despite their claim that I am being given a $1,000 discount.

I counter-offered 38,000 + tax on Feb 11. As of Feb 13 I have not heard from them :)

I have an appointment to test drive and negotiate the same at Brickell Honda on Feb 16. I'll update how this goes.

You might be able to work on them a little more because they add some dealer supplied options. However, even with those options, it is still a significant discount off MSRP. Might be a good choice if they have the color that you want.

Please let us know what happens. I offered the same thing here (38k+tax) in Southern California and was told a definitive “no” by the dealer. When I get more free time I will chat with some other dealers and see if anyone bites. I’m getting the feeling it’s going to be a couple months until they accept an offer like that. But who knows?

You are correct. That is Msrp plus fees. No discount at all. I suggest everyone start asking to see the dealer invoice for the vehicle. Let's see what the dealers are paying for these vehicles.

Let them sit on their lot and they can keep paying interest.
