I think they would want to it to be significantly less as they want to get some volume compared to the Pilot that probably loses more to competitors. If you are considering a passport but wanted the third row seating of the Pilot, how much would that be worth to you? My guess is about 3k.
The Pilot is definitely a nicer 3rd rower than most if you want it but most buyers don't.

I do hope that they still offer the factory Blu-Ray in the Passport though. Most kids have devices but something built in makes for nice road trips.

Excited to finally see official pricing which a number of automotive blogs covered. To make it easier I broke it down by model to help anyone that need this extra bit to pull the trigger. Feel free to use it however you like, a dedicated thread even if that's what you guys want.

Included is the destination charge that's about $1000

2019 Honda Passport Price List:
  • Passport Sport (2WD) - $33,035
  • Passport Sport (AWD) - $34,935
  • Passport EX-L (2WD) - $37,455
  • Passport EX-L (AWD) - $39,355
  • Passport Touring (2WD) - $40,325
  • Passport Touring (AWD) - $42,225
  • Passport Elite (AWD) - $44,725
That translates horribly to Canadian.
44,725 - 59,365. That's significantly higher than the Top Tier Touring Pilot.

I was hoping it would be noticeably less than the Highlander to lessen my 9-speed transmission jitters (pun intended). I think the Pilot Touring was more than the Highlander limited but the Passport is probably only dropping down the the price of the Highlander. I will drive the Passport but may check out the Highlander again if that is the case. Perhaps they will have some new Hybrids in soon also.

I've been looking at Highlander's too. They are giving $2000 incentive now and can get an EXL for 36k plus tax and tag. I was hoping the passport would be close to that. Looks like 4K more. The Highlander is set for a major remodel 2020 which will really bridge the gap on new tech. But the 2019 has a proven track record. Decisions decisions
Link to Incentives? But, I think that is only on the South side.

Thanks Mark, I could be wrong but think that the Highlander added Apple Car play for 2019. Maybe only in Canada is the trick as I am pretty sure the dealer told me it did.

I liked the solid feel of the highlander but found it had a lot of road noise on the highway. The Highlander AWD did not seem to have any Torque steer which was nice.

The Audi Q5 had a harsh ride and a big drive shaft tunnel that killed the rear seating. RDX was nice other than the undersized engine like the Q5. I did find that the Q5 drive train carried it's weight more confidently than the RDX. (Q5 more fun if that's your thing).

Well, the Passport was top on my next car list until the prices came out. Looks like the CX5 turbo is my new top pick for the price.
I came across a video a while ago explaining how Mazda was making Turbo's very well. Basically, the video said that most Turbo's are designed to do well for mileage tests but terrible in the real world. The video showed how Mazda was making Turbo's that performed better and gets you good mileage also.

I have pretty much decided on another vehicle based on my inability to give a rats a$$ about hype. Perhaps next time. Other items that made it easy To move on included their transmission issues which may be a thing of the past but happened nonetheless And possible new model issues even though this is just a chopped pilot. Oh the black does not amuse me at all either. This just gets easier.

Test drove an Elite and LOVED it. Sat down to negotiate and ended up frustrated. Walked out. They wanted MSRP PLUS they low-balled my trade big time and refused to budge. NET would have been like giving them $4,000 OVER MSRP to drive off in the Passport.

Called 3 other dealer in the area and NONE were willing to budge off MSRP.

Bought a Mazda CX-5 GTR instead. Have had it for 3 days and must say, it is a terrific vehicle! The new 2.5T engine makes all the difference.

Nice. Mazda is doing some good work with Turbo technology to solve some inherent deficiencies. It seems to be a proper sized motor and is probably pretty fun. added. I may just go drive one for fun....

I think many are expecting a bit more give considering we are willing to take a chance on their vehicle even they opted to put a notorious transmission in it. I did see that someone got a free lifetime drivetrain warranty with their purchase. Is that standard?
