Lots of cars have recalls for software updates after the sale. If it's not safety related they usually just accomplish it at the next service visit. They should notify you, though.
Other products I've had with post-sale software/firmware updates are cell phones, cameras, printers, TVs...
. I agree recalls happen. But a rogue mirror and a recall on a car a few weeks old ??? Usually recalls happen later after unforeseen things or glitches show their face. The car is only weeks old! Did they test these things. I can get a printer for $40. But I want my 40 k car to be thoroughly tested and in perfect working order when I buy it. At least give me a few months of feeling that new car high before problems show up.
It will be interesting to see consumer reports testing . I'm not dropping the Passport entirely off of my list but now more than ever want to give the decision a little breathing room. I'll keep an eye on it. For me the 2020 highlander is the biggest contender. And I am almost sure they will have recalls too. So I have a few months to wait.
I know some people are in a situation where they have to buy something now . Existing car totaled etc.... That makes it tougher. But if towing capacity is not a concern for them , there are a lot of other sportier and good options.
Trying hard to still keep the Passport in the running.
I think they may I have done better to make a CRV off road. More sporty. Put V6 in it with 10 speed transmission. And add six inches to it.
People would then understand they would have to pay more than crv for more car.
Not more for less car.
And imo the crv looks better then both Pilot and passport.
