Hello david and congrats, that is the exact Passport I am hoping to get, do you know what Dealership New Century got it from? Also, If you are interested in selling just ONE of your take-off tires and wheels, I would be interested as I want a full size spare when I head up to the Bishop/Lee Vining...

I'm on the fence whether to drop money in to new wheels and tires.

If I keep the OEM wheels, I wonder if a 275/45-20 would cause any rubbing issues?

OEM tires (265/45-20) are 10.4" wide and 29.4" tall.

275/45-20 tires are 10.8" wide and 29.7" tall.

These Cooper tires look really good to me: http://us.coopertire.com/tires/cooper-zeon-ltz.aspx

Those look real cool, and with differences of 0.4" (width) and 0.3" (height) I would venture to guess they would fit.. but at any case, please keep us updated what you find on these bad boys...

I'm planning on getting a Passport Touring soon and have been doing some research on all-terrain tire and wheel combos. I wanted to post what I've found so far for everyone's reference and to also get some feedback from the group (first time looking into this stuff and not an expert by any means, so all comments welcome). I appreciate what everyone has shared so far.

My understanding is that a 30" diameter tire is the largest size that will fit without rubbing in a stock configuration.

Stock tire for touring and elite: Continental crosscontact (265/45R20 104H) revs/mile: 707 dia: 29.4"

Largest AT tires in 29 to 30 inch range for 18 inch wheels:

Nitto Terra Grappler (255/60r18) dia 30
Nitto Ridge Grappler (255/55r18) dia 29
Continental TerrainContact A/T (255/55/r18) revs 716 dia 29
Continental TerrainContact A/T (245/60/r18) revs 702 dia 29.6

Yokohama Geolander A/T (255/55/r18) revs 715 dia 29.1

BF Goodrich KO2 (255/55/r18) revs 717 dia 29
General Grabber AT2 (255/60R18) revs 692 dia 30
hankook dynapro atm (255/60R18) revs 692 dia 30

I've been looking for 18" all-black wheels that will fit and this is what I've found so far:

KMC km708 bully
KMC km716 nomad
Black Rhino York
Black Rhino Overland

I'm currently leaning toward the Terra Grapplers on KMC bullys. Anyone have experience with how much road noise to expect from the Terra Grapplers? From what I've read online they are on the low end of noise for an all terrain tire. I currently run Goodyear Duratracs on my land rover for reference.

Bumped because it's good info...

Wow, thanks David, I had never seen the Nitto NT421Q tire before, the specs sound great for any Elite/Touring owners who want to retain the OEM Rims. And while it is NOT billed as an All Terrain tire, however there are probably a number of owners who have no intention of going off-road. There is a size: 275/45 R20 that is 29.76' tall and will fit on the Passport 8.5" rim.

For me, I'm liking the Nitto Dura Grappler Highway Terrain, it's rated at 600-A-B with a 60,000 mile warranty, and is rated as being ABOVE average in Wet & Dry Performance, even higher in Comfort & Quietness, while being LOW in Off-Road performance, I'm sure it would be fine for the flat dirt roads I might take 3x a year...

But I would probably look to get the P245/65R17105S size, which is nearly identical to stock hieght at 29.45 and they find some 17" After Market Rims...

Question?
I went to above link and entered my passport information and no tires populated with regarding to fitting the Passport. Could you tell me how you concluded that these would fit the Elite?
Thanks
I don't claim to be a tire expert, so it is good to get a second opinion from your tire retailer, but here goes:

Elite Rim is 20' x 8.5": Under 20" Tire Sizes 275/45 R20 shows it will work with a 8.5" Rim.

The OEM Continental Tire is 29.5" tall, if I recall correctly and the Nitto is 29.06", meaning it is smaller and should clear fine (no rubbing).

What I do not know is the last numbers/letters & the Load: The Nitto is 105 W XL with a 2039 Load, I guess you would need to see if those numbers are compatible with the Passport (sorry for not doing this).

But I see the tire right under it, 255/50R20 109V XL is 30.06 in height (which still may fit fine) has a 75k mile warranty and a higher load rating 2271.

cheers...
