However, so glad I didn’t spend the money to powder-coat my rims or get new ones until I can learn how to take on curbs or parallel parking!

This vehicle is so big and still getting used to it. ??‍♀

I think my pride hurts more when my production crew see me take out the curb or the post effect. Counting down the time to get some new wheels with the rim edge guards - and new rims!

I’ll give that a shot. My black metal paint is at home and I won’t see that for another 5 weeks.

Heather, I have my right rear mirror adjusted so when I back up into the spot it tilts down enough to see the curb and tire. Do you have your mirror set so it tilts down a bit when in reverse.

practice in a parking lot w the lines instead of curb , i did it. dont forget to use a black sharpie on it.
it takes the sting out of it till you get a new wheel or scratch it again lol

No I do not, but that's something to look for. How did you set this up?

And this curb was hit while in drive pulling out of a parking spot I backed into! ?

check how car is oriented when and after you park car so when u pill away u dont hurt it. whe i look for my side view on passenger side i line up the door handles w the curb and end up 6 inches frm curb.
just take a black sharpie marker and color away on the wheel scrape wher exposed metal is.

I found a gloss black paint for metal at a hobby store for a few bucks and it works great. Unfortunately, I am 400 miles from home where it is at...

Well, FUCK, and double FUCK!! Headed to breakfast before headed to the beach, hit a curb and BAM! Cut the sidewalk! Put a BIG time chip in those black wheels too boy! I’m so bummed!

Check the local auto parts store. Rust-O-Leum sells a "gloss black" touch up paint (without clearcoat). Duplicolor sells a "universal black" (NOT "universal flat black"), includes separate clearcoat.

The challenge is applying the paint and clearcoat so it looks decent. If you mess up, use isopropyl alcohol to clean and restart.

We have squared off granite curbs around here. I can't even imagine what those would do to these wheels. 265/50r20 is almost a requirement the first day of purchase.

Are the tires we have just that much bigger or what is the deal?

• The side wall is SOOOO THIN on these Continental tires plus, the thickness between the contact surface and the wheel itself is pretty shallow - not a lot of air. Unsprung weight is reduced I guess and this supposedly helps handling but, these tires are EXPENSIVE!! $350/tire here - IF you can find them.
• The curb I glazed was a squared off GRANITE piece used to enclose the median downtown here. SHARP edges, as you could expect.
• I’m ready to follow the example of another subscriber here and change to 18” with taller side walls.

That’s what we have downtown here, where my incident occurred.
