I test drove the Pilot and really liked it other than the size. The Passport just did not have the same feel as they went a different way by jacking it up and it seemed they made the suspension a bit harsher. I also was not impressed with Honda Tech. I knew they did not have a birds-eye view options but didn't expect their dynamic back-up camera to be terrible. I rented a base Model Kia mini-van years ago that had incredible dynamic back-up camera lines and parallel parked liked a dream so the fact that Honda can't figure that it is quite sad.

Moving on, I bought the new Rav4 Limited on the first day of seeing and driving it. It did not have the V6 but was impressive and well priced enough for me to get over that. The Tacoma seems like a nice next ride if my need for a tow vehicle comes about and my wife said she would be comfortable taking the Rav4 off my hands and giving up her car.

Hello Joe, I guess I did sort of the opposite of what you did, I joined a couple of RAV4 forums last October and was really convinced (by reading all the features they supposedly had) but after the car came out I was COMPLETELY underwhelmed, I guess going from driving two BMWs back to back for the previous 16 years sort of upped my expectations and the RAV is Toyota's entry level SUV. EVERY road test review I read bashed it, in fact I read this today at lunch:

(Note RAV4 Performance got a 4 out of 10)

And then a fully loaded Adventure model RAV for being within $2k of a V-6, larger, leather-equipped, quieter, better made Passport Touring AWD, it made my decision a no brainer...

Now, if you and the Mrs are happy with it, then great and enjoy, after I bought my Passport, I made one last trip over to the RAV4 Forum and on a thread about "Customer Satisfaction" (it had three RAV4 owners that admitted they made a mistake) I told everyone that I was the proud owner of a Passport and resigned for the Forum..

I actually really liked the Trail edition (Adventure to those of you south of the border) of the Rav4 and was having a difficult time deciding between the two. In the end, it was the lack of headroom on the Rav4 that was the deciding factor. Granted, going from a 2003 Honda Element which has so much headroom, my wife felt claustrophobic getting into the Rav4. Obviously the Passport has some other advantages beside the headroom, but in Canada, a Touring Passport will be about $8,000 more than the Trail Rav4 would have been, and that was also a factor in our decision making.

We traded our '17 CRV for the Passport and I liked the engine, we had no issues with it. The CVT was really smooth!

Currently own a Tacoma and waited for the RAV4 to be released. Wife and I were very disappointed how the RAV4 drove. Absolutely no pick up. Purchased Elite in February and absolutely love it. Traded in a Volvo XC60 turbo.

LOL. I neglected to turn of my email notifications and am quite amused at the firestorm my supposed last post has lit. I saw other threads comparing the Passport to other trims and thought it acceptable. Well, that and I was finally glad as hell to be just done ! As StevenD said, basically it was a great fit for my family and situation and yall are free to buy whatever you are comfortable handing over a good sized check for. GLTA.

Wow, I’m so glad we do not have to read about all of issues on the PP like the RAV / I know no car is perfect but the PP is pretty damn close for me ??
