I did one too, small, about 1" x 3/8". hard to see, unless you really are looking for it. I had a bunch more on my BMW's, I don't really worry about it, better the rims than the body...

I have one too - sadly I think it happen when I was getting a tire fixed and I didn’t notice it til later! I’m looking for a fix as well! Let me know if you find a matching paint. Not sure I’m too impressed with painted rims

Check with your dealer or a good tire shop like Discount Tires. There are companies in some cities that will professionally repair and paint the damaged rim. A few years back Discount Tires accidentlally scratched 3 of my rims when mounting new tires. A small pebble or something got inbedded in their tire machine. They said they'd pay a local wheel repair company which many of the dealers use, or I could choose any wheel from their catalog as free replacements. I took the replacements and sold the stock scratched rims to someone who needed them for snow tires.

We had curb rash on a wheel and I got it repaired this past Friday for $75.

If you wanna invest money to repair it, do so. If not leave it as a 'road scar', (my recommendation) Otherwise consider doing the classic chick repair. Get yourself a tube of grey lipstick and apply a little dab for the desired result.

My wife rubbed a curb when parking new Elite damaging rim. Salesman recommended individual who dealerships use. Fixed it in the parking lot in 45 minutes. Charged $100.00.

Sounds like air brush. Most dealers use them to touch up all the used cars(and some new) on the lot. The work I’ve seen has been good.

There are several people selling their take off rims here and if you could buy one in the $150 -$250 range, that would not be much more than a couple of repairs...

I rubbed my back passenger wheel against a curb and scratched my black rims. I underestimated the sharp turn at work. So sad. I might just try to use touch up paint on it.

Ouch, one reason I don’t like low profile tires. Do they make a tire with a rim bead for this rim?

I too have rubbed my right side wheels on my Elite, mine at a carwash. I believe the new rim tire combination is a set up for rash as ther tires privide no protection for the rims. I went to an Auto Zone and bought black touch up pait and repared the rub marks.

I was thinking of getting 1 extra rim as a spare so if I scratched it up, I would be able to swap it out and send the damaged one in for repairs?
I’m kind of anal about rims, I was so happy to see that Honda was using 5 spoked rims on the Touring & Elite trims, that is what I ran on my Mustang..

Get a bottle if modern steel metallic touch up paint from your dealer or ebay. I’m 90% sure its the same paint and matches quite well on my rims. I dont suggest using the clear coat that comes with it.

I have the gray EXL wheels that got chipped on my first long trip. Same color as the gray touring ones. The paint on these wheels is very week. However, wheels are more prone to chips than any other part of the vehicle so its something to just accept or get wider tires to help prevent.

It’s darker without the clear coat but once that’s on I can’t tell a difference. Pretty sure exl and touring gray wheels are the same color and I’m pretty sure it is MSM but I could be wrong.

I used to have a wrx with very expensive gold wheels and used a gold sharpie to touch those up. Imho keeping rims flawless is an ocd fantasy and not worth the time, as is perfectly matched touch up paint for them. Why buy a very capable adventure vehicle if you are too afraid to use it?

Because its hard to put on for most people and produces undesirable results like a blobby uneven finish. For the anal retentive to match the paint sheen on their rims it would be necessary. I personally dont mind a few dots that are slightly darker. Go park next to an MSM painted car and compare the paint to your rims. Same as far as I can tell. All touch up paint for wheels or for body panels looks darker without using the clear coat.
