I am a current owner of a 2012 CRV. Thinking about adding 2019 Passport EX-L. It is end of the year clearance and dealerships want room for 2020 models. I am a hard bargainer and I was quoted a price of $34,015 plus taxes, title, registration. However they want to charge me an additional $500 if they have to get the color vehicle I want from another dealership. I have been with Honda for 30 years, and we keep our vehicles over the long haul.
What do you think of clearance price? Is $500 to get me a vehicle at another dealership standard practice? No interest incentives currently, what is your best interest rate for financing through Honda?

We are also in the market for a 2019 EX-L AWD. Are you getting AWD or 2 wheel drive. If AWD - your price is great. If FWD (2 wheel drive), I think you can do better. Dealers here in WI/IL/MN are not ready to clearance the Passports as 2020's aren't due in til Nov.

As far as the $500 - it's higher than it is here (avg is $300). I've never heard of this charge before but times and things do change. With internet pricing and profit is fierce for the dealers so they have to get creative to pay for peoples time - so the buck gets passed on to us the buyers. Lowest I've been able to get for EX-L AWD is $35100 but they have a "standard" Pro-Pak for $850 which they state is non-negotiable. I don't have my notes with me but it was 3 accessory items - wheel locks, mud flaps and can't remember the third item. Even with the parts counter prices it wan't $850. So - bottom line, they get you one way or another. Be sure to check every line item pricing.

As far as finance - it changes every month - we looked at it last night and I only remember 48 months is at 2.9%

Correction!! 48 months is at 3.9% NOT 2.9%. SOORRY! ?

Sorry - my current best price is $35,400 plus doc fee, taxes & title/DMV. To avoid the "locate" fee, the dealer looked it up on there "computer" and found one coming in this month with color & Trim level we wanted so we are waiting for it. Put $500 down as deposit. I also had a dealer in Chicago area quote me a base price of $34,4xx but a $300 locate fee and then there is a "third party" processing fee since I'm out of state - but they didn't know what that would be until I came in. I passed - not driving 2 1/2 hrs for an unknown. Good luck & keep us posted.

I have been with this Honda dealer for 30 years, so that accounts a lot for the bottom line pricing. The $34, 015 is for EX AWD and like you I have to pay extra for registration, title, splash guards, etc.
The sales person I worked with, over the years, waived the $500 location fee.

Right now our purchase may wait, as we may buy an used Acura for my son, and possibly wait for another year. Good luck finding what you want. They say December is the best month is often the best time to buy last year’s model.

If the financing you saw at 2.9 is through Honda, that low financing does not apply to Passports. Maybe have to wait till a good incentive comes along.

That’s what my dealer charges to get one from another dealer. They can’t be teleported so they get a retired guy with a truck and car trailer to go get it. He gets paid and I assume your dealer gives up the holdback.

How solid was the ETA on 2020 Passports you mentioned? My understanding was that because of the late introduction of the 2019 that the 2020 would not come out until next spring.

Excellent question. That’s what I was told from salesperson at Dealership. Just got word earlier today that the color we wanted came in today. We r scheduled to pick up next Wednesday as we are leaving town tomorrow. I’ll ask if they have any solid / confirmed information.

I just purchased a 2019 EX-L AWD this past week and I was told the same by two different dealers in Knoxville, the 2020 Passports were not expected until late April since they were a late arrival for 2019. Not expecting many changes between the 2019 and 2020 either, so pricing will only be higher if they do well in the market.

$35,400 is what I paid for an EX-L. Compared to anything else you can get with all the amenities, it’s worth it. I considered 4 Runner and Grand Cherokee and I’m happy with my Passport. As far as color I was lucky they had the silver one.
