I was really really REALLY hoping these cars were gonna be made in Japan......
That’s like hoping your horse grows a horn. All big platform hondas have always been built in the USA - Alabama. Since the 2001 odyssey. they have all also been of lower build quality and with more frequent issues than the indiana or japan hondas.

Thanks Alabama.

Took the Passport into the dealer yesterday to look at the AC. The diagnosis was the condenser drier will require replacement. They kept the vehicle and will replace the parts today when they come in. They gave my a new CRV as a loaner. WOW! What a difference in a bad way.

Ive hit 6 dealerships in a few days and asked each one if they heard about any AC problems. To their credit, a couple admitted to knowing about the Pilot, but none admitted to knowing about the Passport probs with the AC.

Touring AWD owner here. 3/2019 production date (VIN> 10000). No issues with A/C as of yet (blows ice cold, even as the outside temp grows each day...). I feel for y’all that are affected! Hopefully the dealers aren’t giving you too much grief for diagnosis/repairs.

How many Passport owners have not had the AC issue? So far, so good for mine - production January 2019 Elite. Of course, it got cold again, so I haven't had to run it much.
I've been running mine in Houston for around 3 weeks straight now. No issues at all. Obviously, it stops blowing cold air when the stupid idle stop kicks in, but as soon as the engine is running all is good again.

Mine is a week old and our weather hasn't been warm enough for A/C. I did turn it on the other day and it didn't feel very cold but warmer days are coming.

Very strange. I think you’ll lose it soon enough and your AC system will be worse off having purged twice. I’d get a second opinion. Not like they just forgot the freon at the factory.
I was going to say the same thing. You just dont lose freon, add more and not lose it. If you lost freon then there is a leak. Only other possibility is that is wasnt added when built.

Stumbled on this thread two days before getting the Passport. Talked to the salesman and provided a link to this thread and asked him to check the AC before handing the car over. A little while later he said it's blowing cold air, no problem. Have only had the car for 3 days now, but the AC is indeed working fine. Will be interesting to see if it becomes an issue later.

By chance, can you give me the production date? Im like <-> this close to buying, but have been waiting for an April Production date in Steel metallic with low miles from test drives.

Well I posted a few weeks ago that I took my Passport in for the common AC problem. They tested it and filled the refrigerant and it worked great, but I'm already feeling it get warmer and warmer each day. Looks like it's going back to service in a few days.
