No noise here. But the trans is a little slow... especially when upshifting.... holds the lower gears too long after releasing throttle a bit (forcing upshift)...

Ummm....... the ZF is only used on Pilot (top trim) and Passport. Odyssey has Honda 6 speed or Honda made 10 speed. Ridgeline only uses Honda 6 Speed auto... Don't understand why they would complain about a trans they don't have in their vehicle?

DOH!! I shoulda done my research better before posting my reply. I meant to infer that I'd read comments on Youtube video reviews where some said the ZF trans had issues in some Hondas'. Again, random replies in Honda video reviews. I generalized my first reply.

But I imagine some complain of vehicles they don't own as well. It happens. peace. e.
A lot of those comments/ reviews were for the 2016/17/18 models. Supposedly ZF and Honda re-tuned/reprogrammed and made internal improvements to the ZF 9 Speed for the 2019 model year. This ZF trans is used on a lot of high end product, including some BMW's, Range Rover, Jaguar and I believe Chrysler uses it still on some product. It's a very compact design and is in fact smaller overall than Honda's in-house 10 speed Auto in the Accords and Odyssey's. It is a decent trans, but like I said, sometimes it's a little slow when you aggressively accelerate and then lift off the throttle to make vehicle up-shift. All and all, it's a minimal issue for me. All I want is for it to be bullet proof for the life of the vehicle.
Honda can push the Passport as a light to moderate off-road capable vehicle because of that 1st gear. 4.713 is quite low and makes a great crawl gear. In Sport mode, the Passport will start in 1st gear and ROCKET off the line because of that gear.

Some of the specs are below from Wiki... from what I know this is pretty accurate. Ours is the 9HP48 model. This trans excels in fuel economy because 5th gear is 1.00:1. 6, 7th, 8th and 9th gear are all overdrive. 9th is so high (very stout overdrive ration) Passport will not shift into it until about 77-80 mph.
