I agree with this completely. I offered 40,000 out the door for a FWD touring and was told that they wouldn’t go that low.For me. Touring AWD is worth 38500 plus tax and tag. Not a pennny more.

I thought so too. It’s a very nice car, but definitely not impressive enough to overpay for. I think the salesman was pretty surprised when he came back to tell me that his boss said they couldn’t make that deal and they were only selling them for above MSRP. Fortunately, I don’t need that car right away, and there are other manufacturers that make pretty good competitors, so I guess it’s time to start test drivingBased off what the Pilot and other competitors are selling for I think you made a very fair offer too.
I have a new baby, and I need to get rid of my pick up truck. I’m ready for something different anyways. I’m less concerned about towing capacity, as I never tow anything that heavy, but I do like the amount of indoor space in the car for moving stuff around. I’m waiting to see what other updates Toyota announces for their 2020 lineup. I’ll post if I find another car equally as nice.I've been testing a lot of others too. Some good options out there. I have been trying to get 5000 lbs tow capacity ..... for the boat I don't have yet and occasional utility trailer for yard work.
Currently the Toyota Highlander is at the top of my list but waiting for them to announce the 2020 model .... big redesign should give me a choice of great deal on 2019 or fair deal on 2020 with all the improvements.
Keep me posted on what you find
