Hello everyone,

Normally I'm not really a fan of crossovers because I think they're boring and a complete shell of what a real 4x4 should be (body on frame design, 4wd, stripped down, etc) but I'm watching some stuff about the new Passport and it looks oddly compelling. The extra ground clearance and the demonstration videos make it seem like it could be a convincing off roader, maybe not necessarily on the same level as say, a Jeep Wrangler or a truck with a lift kit on it, but decent enough to take on a weekend camping trip to the Pine Barrens where I live in Southern New Jersey or visiting Upstate New York. I'm still not sure how I feel about it not being a body on frame architecture but I'm sure Honda did their best to make the unibody structure durable enough for said scenarios.
So what do you guys think of the new Honda Passport? Do you think it'll be a decent off road, outdoorsy vehicle or will it just be another boring ass grocery getter?

Only one thing to say: The tire size with an aspect ratio of '45' on the Touring and Elite models are not for what I call 'off roading'.

Check out this YouTube video... (if you haven't already seen it)... especially the Passport going through Kramer's Arch at 23:20 into the video. The entire video is fun to watch. I don't know I'd do that with a brand new Passport. I used to do that kind of stuff with a '72 Jeep CJ5, but that was back in the early 70's.

However, the only off-roading it will ever do is a slow drive across a dirt parking lot.
It’s too nice of a vehicle to take in the sand dunes!

Traded in a real Chevy Blazer for a new Elite Passport. The Blazer had over 166K miles. The Passport has been back to the dealer for more days needing repairs in less than 700 miles than the Blazer in 166K miles.

The Blazer was a real off road vehicle, 4X4 body on frame. Real skid plates..........etc. Most of my miles will now be on road, the Passport will see little off road use and only easy grandma stuff.

That’s not good to read. When did you get your Passport? I heard there were a lot of issues in the first releases in February and March. What kind of repairs are they doing?

SWMBO is loving the PP Touring AWD. No issues at all. Our production # was 002926 and we bought it in March.

Picked the Elite up at the dealer the end of March. All three times the Passport would not come out of park. The cause was a sensor/gas pedal. Voltage was wrong, kept the car "awake" computers on line draining the battery, 10 warnings. Hoping now all is ok.
