I want to swap out the 5” unit for the 8” unit with apple car play ect... wanted to know if it’s a plug and play swap

I have a sneaky suspicion that by the time you do all that "swapping" you would have spent the same as moving up to the Touring model...

You've got that rite. It's like buying a home entertainment setup (speakers/receiver/drivers and saying, " I don't want this anymore". One should be able to sell the home setup on Ebay or Craig's List but not the "5-inch unit". Who would buy it?

Would like to know if anyone has priced this at a Honda dealer? I've got the Sport's 5" and have looked at the parts schematic for the EX-L 8" and the head and other components run about $1,500 without labor. But from the schematic, it appears to be a pretty straight forward swap. Both units are 215 watt with 7 speakers but the 8" has wireless Apple Car Play and touch screen. I've priced an aftermarket Kenwood double din with wireless Apple Car Play at the local car stereo shop for about $1,100 installed. Local shop can't guarantee complete compatibility with all the steering wheel controls. Any thoughts?

5" and 8" have a different wiring harness and connectors. That's why its not offered as a dealer upgrade. Dealers would love to jump on this if it was that easy.
