Have any of you owners explored the rear area where the mini spare tire is?

I'm wondering if a full size spare will fit in the area?

If it does, it may encroach on the storage ares or even the sub-woofer, but I would really like to get a full size spare tire and would love to put it under the rear deck as to opposed to having it on top of the deck?

Also, does anybody else plan to get a full size spare? If I'm on a long trip to the mountains, 300 miles from home, the last thing I want to do if I have a tire/wheel out of commission, is to put on a mini-spare that is good for 50miles at 55mph...

I just bought a PP this week and will be putting 17" rims on because I need to travel on long and sometimes rough dirt roads. Modifying the storage area to fit a full height spare is on my list of mods to do. I'm thinking to cut out the plastic around that cargo area so it fits. I'll let people know how that plan goes...
YES, good luck, hope it works...!

Looking at the picture, I think I see where the plastic tray comes out, but since the space is very tight against the front wall, side wall and the sub-woofer, the only way I see it fitting is to move it towards the back which will cut into the storage space, which may be ok, I was not planning on putting much back there except for bolting down a small gun safe, like this:

PG, you can't put the Passport spare on the rear deck lid, it would not open.. only way to do it is to put it in a bag and keep it in the back. (you probably knew this...)
