Honda already has $1000 of my deposit $. I took a day off to get my car delivered and I got a call at 5:15 PM from the salesperson stating there was a "glitch" ... He tried to explain the telematics update issue. When I asked when the update could happen, he didn't have an answer. Probably in a matter of days, he said. I have to call my insurance company and put everything on hold.
What would be my chances of recovering my deposit because Honda can't deliver a car in prime working order as promised ? This is not good !!!
Yes, they need to comp you for your time. Like the money you lost from work.
At least for the amount of money and your own time is valuable. If they don't comp you for
it in a discount or accessories. Then Pull out since they failed on their promise to you, for you to leave the deposit in the first place. They owe you something.

I’m trying to be patient, believe me. Like I said, if they could just give me a timeframe, I can handle that and make the decision. But to leave it open ended with no expectation of when, that is what kills me. Thanks for the advice.
You have a right to be annoyed. You put down a $1000 in good faith to them in part of a deal
that has apparently failed on a delivery. The GM of that dealership should apologize to you in person
and offer some kind of compensation in respect towards you, the customer. In the mean time, if you
have another car to drive, no need to worry to much. you will get your Passport of your choice soon enough, and this will be memory that will be soon forgotten as you drive your new car.

So I told my dealer that I was re-examining my options and that I didn’t feel comfortable taking delivery on a Touring that was sitting in pieces.
He located another exact vehicle with the recall already fixed (so he says), and I should take delivery this week.
Wow, what a joke. Pieces! Some new car experience. and a lack of respect towards you.
I would take a picture of the torn out dash and show it to the GM, and mention your loss of time to,
and ask him is that the way you sell brand new cars. If the dash is not put back on right or missing a fitting, it will vibrate, and that noise will make you upset. They still need to comp you anyway, even if you get another one.
