I joined this forum back in December and bought a new Passport this past weekekend -- but I just realized I never did a "New Owner" thread so here goes...

I'm coming from an old 2006 Pilot. My original plan was to buy another Pilot. Once I realized I no longer need the 3rd row (and found out that the Pilot had grown from 188" to 196.5") I no longer wanted the Pilot. I seriously considered the Acura RDX and came very close to buying one. Then I found out the Passports had finally arrived at my local dealer. I liked it. A lot. Bye-bye RDX, hello Passport.

I got an Elite, White w/ Black interior. Yay!

I came really close to buying one. But too many things about the RDX would have bugged me, so I'm glad I didn't.

As someone sort of considering both, what were those things?

For me the main downsides are that I like the A-spec styling but want the Advance trim features, the lower seating postition (looks the same as my CR-V) and much smaller towing capacity.

The touchpad looks pretty terrible in the new RDX, a step backward imo. I would imagine deprecation would come into play much sooner as well. Congrats on finally securing yourself a Passport!

I too preferred the looks of the A-spec but wanted the Advanced. Some of the other RDX negatives for me were: I wasn't crazy about the Touch Pad, I much prefer a Touch Screen. Poor backup camera picture quality (looked liked Vaseline on the lens). The Infotainment system is full of bugs, lots of issues. No Android Auto. No spare tire unless you get AWD for $2,000 extra. No Remote Start unless you pay $699 for it or pay annually for an app. No wireless phone charging. Cargo area was too small for comfort. Should I go on?

One thing I'll add here for anyone considering the RDX is the number of problem areas owners are discussing.

I realize that Internet forums are places where people often come to b!tch, but there seems to be an abundance of unresolved issues over there on the Acura forum. I certainly wouldn't be comfortable buying one now.

Welcome from one old fart to another. Congrats on the new Passport! Like yourself, we owned several vehicles in our life, I believe my last vehicle “Black Beast” is the best one I have ever owned!
