I'm planning on getting a Passport Touring soon and have been doing some research on all-terrain tire and wheel combos. I wanted to post what I've found so far for everyone's reference and to also get some feedback from the group (first time looking into this stuff and not an expert by any means, so all comments welcome). I appreciate what everyone has shared so far.

My understanding is that a 30" diameter tire is the largest size that will fit without rubbing in a stock configuration.

Stock tire for touring and elite: Continental crosscontact (265/45R20 104H) revs/mile: 707 dia: 29.4"

Largest AT tires in 29 to 30 inch range for 18 inch wheels:

Nitto Terra Grappler (255/60r18) dia 30
Nitto Ridge Grappler (255/55r18) dia 29
Continental TerrainContact A/T (255/55/r18) revs 716 dia 29
Continental TerrainContact A/T (245/60/r18) revs 702 dia 29.6

Yokohama Geolander A/T (255/55/r18) revs 715 dia 29.1

BF Goodrich KO2 (255/55/r18) revs 717 dia 29
General Grabber AT2 (255/60R18) revs 692 dia 30
hankook dynapro atm (255/60R18) revs 692 dia 30

I've been looking for 18" all-black wheels that will fit and this is what I've found so far:

KMC km708 bully
KMC km716 nomad
Black Rhino York
Black Rhino Overland

I'm currently leaning toward the Terra Grapplers on KMC bullys. Anyone have experience with how much road noise to expect from the Terra Grapplers? From what I've read online they are on the low end of noise for an all terrain tire. I currently run Goodyear Duratracs on my land rover for reference.

I'm learning more info on things to consider when swapping out wheels -- need to make sure the load rating of the wheel being considered is more than 50% of the vehicle's heaviest gross axle weight rating. It looks like the Touring trim's heaviest GAWR is 3142 lbs, so I'll need to get wheels with a load rating of at least 1,571 pounds. The KMC Bullys have a load rating of 1,752, exceeding the GAWR by 181. Should I be concerned with cutting it so close? It looks like the Black Rhino Overlands have a load rating of 2700 (but they weigh about 9 pounds more each and cost about $100 more).

Looks great! Do you know what the tire/ weight combo is compared to stock. How does it ride and handle
The stock continentals and 20" rims weigh 62 pounds combined. The terra grapplers weigh 41 pounds and the kmc rims weigh 24 pounds, for a total of 65 pounds. Haven't noticed much change in ride and handling, although I haven't driven it much yet.
