The 165 limit is likely the dynamic weight limit, which is the limit when the car is in motion. The static limit will usually be much higher. Unless you're planning to be in the tent while driving, which I wouldn't recommend, you'll be fine so long as your tent by itself isn't over the dynamic limit.
