From what I've read they are more or less the same. Found a really in depth article that breaks down the two systems. Main difference is the amount of power that goes to the rear wheels. http://youwheel.com/home/2017/05/07/acura-sh-awd-a-comprehensive-analysis/

I'm almost positive that the power that goes to the rear wheels are 70% for both i-VTM and SH_AWD. And that 100% of that (70) can go to directly to the wheel that needs it.
