Man, I just realized I ordered the two front door side lighting and I'm not sure what I'll be getting. Salesman showed me his laminated accessories brochure. It gave a short spiel, explanation on its' purpose. But we couldn't really see in the small, single picture where it's mounted exactly. It looks like it will be mounted, by the dealer, along the two side mirrors from what I could see. Maybe it was below the doors.

I have to go back in a few days to have that installed. I will be more vigilant then to see what all they will be doing before I let them go ahead with that. I was ready to leave so told them they can detail may car and refill gas tank on my return trip for that install. They did give it a good wash, fill tank and remove all window stickers yesterday. But I'll be sure and get that new car detail next time.

Barbwire here has a great pic of what you will be getting/unfortunately I don’t recall the thread but it’s under the running boards and here is a pic of my rear tailgate welcome lights - goal is to help with camping and providing some light if needed without setting off the dreaded beep opening and closing the tailgate ?

Ah, that looks pretty cool. But I have no running boards, so my Side lights may be installed at door bottoms maybe? I'm diggin that tailgate light. The cargo area is very dark.in the Passport Interior LED bulbs left with my HL. I just have some portable LED light bars that I place in the cargo area for now.

What you ordered could be the "Side Welcome Lights" if they were Honda original accessories. They're also known as "puddle lamps" in other parts of the world. Check out the link below for what they could look like and the installation instructions. It also includes the part number so maybe you can match that with what's on your invoices?

Apart from these, there are 2 Honda original running boards - 1) die cast with no lights 2) black with lights (which are in the pictures above). I'm looking to get the side welcome lights too.

Yup, set it to come on n off w doors. I put LED bulbs in my HL soon after I bought it. So I'm prolly used to seeing those brighter lights compared to the PP bulbs. Not a real big problem.

Yep, that's what I ordered, thanks. Hope they follow install procedure thoroughly.
I didn't ask if installation is extra cost? I should do that.

The sales person sheet at dealers has the installed price. If you buy through the Honda e store through dealer, have both the installed and non installed price.
Is the estore is usually cheaper for the installed price as well? I was able to check all the dealers in my area and how much they would charge me for the install. But I don't know if that was their standard quoted fee or a discounted one.

Still not sure of all that. From what the lady at parts/service told me, they do have to remove the door panels and run some wires to install the SideDoor accessory. I'm not too king on having factory installed door panels or other, removed on a brand new vehicle. My Passport is so tight and quiet. Wouldn't want to disturb that. I also read where they may have to remove some undercoating/rust-proofing(?) to install. They are supposed to replace any of that which they remove. I will be sure to ask about that more.

My salesman finally left me a voice msg saying to contact the dealership to schedule this install. Again, not in a hurry to have them fiddle with my auto. I asked him via text if I could just cancel my order and get a refund. Well of course he did not address that in his VM msg back to me.

Now, I'm just waiting for a good weather day, so they can do my complete new auto detail. I'm still thinking on this SideDoor lights install. I may have to go thru with it. So I'm just wiating for a day that I may feel like sitting in their dealership for a few hours for that install and my full detail.

But I will ask again when I call or arrive, what all is involved with this accessory install. And I may push for a refund if it's something I choose not to do. And I will def ask how this system operates and to what benefit. We'll see.

Just looked up the install manual for the running boards with lights: https://www.collegehillshonda.com/instructions/passport/2019/lightedrunningboards.pdf.

Looks like the install needs the lining to be pulled out around the door (on the body not door) but not the side panels?

On page 6 there's a mention of removing the "undercoating" and applying touch-up paint. :(

Thanks for bringing it up even I'd feel cautious about pulling out panels. One loose bolt and you'll have annoying vibration noises. I had a sound on a brand new 2016 Accord that no body figured out and drove me crazy. Finally I somehow trained my brain to ignore it.

Let me know what you find out. I'm planning to purchase end of the month. Might just go for the tail welcome lights then: https://www.collegehillshonda.com/instructions/passport/2019/rearwelcomelights.pdf. These do need the whole rear bumper to come off. In which case I might have that done before I do the ceramic coating I want. Though even re-installing the bumper makes me nervous. If they break a clip and it comes loose .

Yes, any of that removal makes me nervous. My Side LIghts would be installed w/o the installation of any running boards. So this may make install more simple but still involves panel/undercoat removal. I'm trusting that the installers have done this many times but still gives me pause. I doubt they will want to refund me since Iadded the accessory thru it in with my financing. But maybe I can opt for future dealer credit or another, less invasive install item. Maybe a years worth of Nitrogen refill, LOL.

Again, I have to call and schedule this procedure. I will ask more questions then. NOW, I think barbwire showed a pic of the tailgate welcome lights and I do like the looks of that. Still, invasive install required. We'll see. Thanks for your reply and specs offered here. Good luck with your Passport, really enjoying mine so far. peace, e.

I did this install myself, and there is no door panel removal..... there are plugs in the floor which are removed and the harness is pulled through and a grommet is on the harness to replace the one removed..... the only panel that I removed is the kick panels for each side to connect to ........I removed a very small area of undercoating where the housing for the welcome lights were located.....
There is no approach and they magically turn on.....
If you use the remote to unlock the doors, the lights will illuminate
They also illuminate when you exit the vehicle and turn off after a few minutes....

I think they look and function good and well worth the money, you won’t be disappointed......
Enjoy
Blue.....

Hey thanks so much for your helpful reply blue jean. Nice you that you did it yourself. Are they OEM?

And just where are they mounted? Under the body, below the front doors? If so, will they just eluminate the area of ground just below those doors? Sorry for all the questions. But Thanks again. peace e.

They are OEM, they are installed along the track where you almost jack up the vehicle. Actually, if you look underneath your car, you will see 3 half moon templates, 1 front 1 middle 1 rear, these templates are removed easily with a utility knife and that’s the location for mounting.....they do light up a good portion of ground.....
I knew I should’ve taken pictures when I did this, but was pressed for time.....
I also have the rears to do, but just been busy with finals and regents exams and will do them this summer, removing the bumper cover should also not concern you, some push pins and snaps to pull apart, nothing gets damaged, I’m a brute and no harm no foul on this install......

Sidelights installed by dealer; finally. In my garage w/doors slightly cracked open. In very dark areas, they really light up below side of Passport well. I think I'd have made more use of the tailgate lights more. But these serve a purpose as well.
