That’s interesting that both engines have the same compression ratio. I feel like Honda says to use 87 for non-Acura’s because Nana would have a heart attack if she had to put premium in her Pilot ?

Sam’s Club premium is the same price as regular at normal gas stations so it doesn’t hurt to try.

First, I know that premium fuel does not equal to higher HP and it's a waste of money for a car that uses regular 87 gas.

However, when searching the web, I found out that our V6 is the same engine as the one under the hood of the Acura MDX....and with the same 11.5:1 compression ratio. They're rated at 280HP on 87 gas on the Honda side and 290HP when using 91 octane gas on the Acura side...:unsure::unsure:

Does our ECU in our Passport (and others Honda trucks that uses the J35Y6 engine) has the ability to advance its timing?

FYI, my old 2.0L Ecoboost in my Escape makes 230HP on regular and 240HP with 93 octane gas because various owners of Ecoboost engines has confirmed that those ECUs can change its timing for more power when it detects a higher grade of gas. (e.g. search for Ecoboost Mustang HP rating and you'll see what I mean ;) )
Interesting side note, ford reccomends premium for the ecoboost 1.5 and the 2.0 hybrid. 1.5 I understand because of the turbo, but a naturally aspirated engine on the atkinson cycle??
