I just completed the white LED swap for the interior bulbs. I replaced 2 map lights in the front, one in the rear seat and one in the back. To my surprise, when I got to the doors I noticed that the EX-L does not have lights, just a red reflector. I only had this SUV for 3 weeks, driving mostly during the day, so I just assumed the lights were there. So my question to the forum would be:
Would it be possible to order the lights on the Touring/elite and install them on the sport/ex-l?
Is it prewired? Part numbers? Has it been done successfully?
Here are a few pictures showing the door lights ( not to be confused with footwell lights or welcome/ puddle lights on the exterior )

I find it interesting you want to turn your EXL into a Touring model. Were there features of a Touring you didn't want and didn't justify the extra cost of purchasing a Touring? I also saw your post about upgrading the audio system to that of the Touring model.

Yes, I should have gone for the Touring, but I had to compromise. My payment would have been about $60 to $75 a month higher. The reason for that increase (in addition to the extra cost) is that the 3 yr residual value is lower on the Touring compared to the EX-L. I drive 25000 miles a year, so depreciation played a big part in my decision. The EX-L is pretty sweet and it checked every box, except for the premium sound. I was expecting the door lights to be included on every trim, but I was wrong. Installing the interior lighting won't break the bank. I always enjoyed doing these small mods and if they are OEM mods, even better! The sound upgrade would be the missing piece of the puzzle. If the cost is too high I won't go through with it.
If I had to pick one feature that won me over, it would be the projector headlights on the EX-L vs the other led style. The smaller width of the tires will also give better mpg, but that is not a big deal. I will probably upgrade the wheels and tires later down the road. Sorry for the long answer.

Thanks for the reply (not too long at all). Personally I find the LED headlights preferable over HID projector type. Obvously something that is a personal preference. I know some others do not care for LED headlights, but I love 'em. I hope you're able to fnd that parts for your upgrades.

Not exactly the same as oem door lights but I see online battery powered, lights that will show Honda or other logo on the ground below the doors. They Velcro to the door inside and send the LED logo onto the ground below when opening doors. I've not seen them in person but on YouTube vids they seem to offer lights in that area pretty well. Just another way to go, if it serves your purpose.

BTW, I had the Sidelights/Welcome Lights installed last week. Purchased as part of the drive out deal. Really like what they offer on my Touring.
peace, e.

I switched it up to led cupholders to be used as ambient lights. $17 bucks in amazon. They turn on with no light and vibration for 15 seconds. A 15 min usb charge should last a couple of weeks. There are some solar options, and it has multiple colors, and some even have the Honda logo. The intensity is self adjusting. I went with this model since it had good reviews. It is a lot cheaper and easier than installing the OEM white LED cupholder from the touring/elite that is about $70, and it requires you to unbolt the buttons for the transmission. I may add a few of these in the rear cupholders. Subtle mod, not too ricey imho.

Update: one led cupholder failed with water from a very wet Gatorade bottle that came from a cooler, not your typical moisture from day to day use. Although the product says that it is waterproof, this one did not do well. After it dried it seems to be working again, testing to see if it can hold a charge. I contacted the seller and he was very responsive and offered to send a new pair. A refund was also an option, but I do like the product, so I’m willing to give it another shot. This one does not fill the entire cupholder, but I don’t mind. I will shift the location to the four doors instead.

There are many out there models out there: solar, with Honda logo, wider sizes, etc... Don’t be afraid to try others.
