Does this have the cylinder deactivation feature? I had a 2009 Pilot that I ultimately unloaded because the engine took a crap twice due to that system. Luckily it was under warranty both times, but I was shocked when piston rings needed replacing twice under 100K.

It almost definitely does. It's the same powertrain as the current Ridgline and Pilot which have it. I'm not sure if there have been any changes since the 2009 generation.

There are threads on the Ridgeline Owners Club forum and the Piloteers forum about vehicle mods to disable it.

Cylinder deactivation has come a fair way since 2009, so I doubt you will encounter those kinds of issues with the Passport. Sometimes turning it off is as simple as pulling a fuse.

I noticed these issues most with Honda Accords from 2005 and on and vehicle produced years after that, much like your 2009 Pilot. These days however its rare that I come across concerning reports.

Cylinder deactivation has never been noticeable on my 2014 RDX.
