It's just a pure guess on my part, but nearly every off-road review bashes the OEM wheels and hopefully Honda is paying attention. I'm reasonably sure the 2020 Passport is going to be 98% (or more) the same as the 2019, so adding an option or a package with some smaller rims with taller off-road tires seems like it would be a win-win for both Honda and the consumer.

And it would be a seamless transition for us 2019 owners who also want upgrade..

Any thoughts?

It would make a ton of sense to offer smaller rims, which is why it will not happen. It is Honda USA we are talking about here. The lack of smaller rims is one of the key reasons I have not pulled the trigger on a Passport yet. Yes, I know I can get something aftermarket, but just out of principle I don't want to award someone who made such a dumb decision (20" rims only on an "off-road capable vehicle") to begin with.

It could. But they would surely be woefully inferior to even the most basic of aftermarket options as is often the case when manufacturers try to showroom the aftermarket.

Congrats! you might be the non-Passport owner leader of posts here (with 24 and counting)! Anyway, as with most cars, the Passport is what it is. If you are really wanting a off-road vehicle, I would probably not recommend a Passport either, a Jeep or 4Runner would be a better fit.

Anyway, I'm hoping that Honda is reading and listening the all the reviews about having a nice 18" rim with taller off-road capable tires and at least offers them as a option on the 2020 or 2021 models, that way the 2019 owners would be able to get an OEM rims instead of aftermarket...!
