You may be able to get or make some sort of Sheepskin "sock" that would pull over them and increase their size and comfort.

Have no idea Mike, every car/SUV I have driven for the last 40 years has had the Center Arm Rest and I don't miss it at all, in fact I find the center area is a great place to lay things while driving!
