I think the so-called gray "interior" is a bit of a misnomer; its really only the leather seats that are gray. The dash, doors, carpet etc. on both the black and gray interiors remain black (which I think is more of a dark charcoal gray). If someone has seen different, please set me straight.

Perhaps, but that's the most prominent part(s) of the interior. Look inside the Gray interior Passport and the color you "see" is Gray.
I agree with you :). My preferred choice is the black interior. I just wanted to highlight the difference for those who haven't seen both yet, since in some other makes/models more than just the seat color changes (sometimes dash and door trim and carpet also) with an interior color change..

I am really struggling with the interior color choice for my planned Modern Steel Elite. The interior of the Passport (dash, trim, console, carpet, etc.) is all black, with absolutely zero contrast. I wish the headliner was gray or something to break up the darkness of the interior. I think the gray seats add some life and a sense of luxury to the interior, but I know Black is probably the more practical choice.

Here are a couple pics I found that I think more closely represent the true color of the gray interior.
I think the gray interior (seats) looks lighter than these pics in real life, and the black to me is more of a dark charcoal gray, IMHO. The key is to see both in person with your own eyes.
