This may sound funny, but I was tired of luxury cars, luxury pricing, luxury dealerships and paying for Premium gas for the last 16 years, so I was looking to simplify and the Passport had all the luxury I needed...
That's not funny at all. I had the same reasons for trading in my 2011 Acura RDX. Also, with the new Acura RDX going back to Turbo, it automatically eliminated the RDX from my purchasing list. I had the Turbo break on my 2011 RDX. That is a $8k repair.

When the dealer was appraising the car did they know the issue from self discovery?
Also, the questions they asked didn't even ask anything that would have made me compelled to tell them. They listed my old car for $12k, and they gave me $6k in trade in, and it's no longer on their web site, so I am guessing they either fixed it, or they sold it as is.

I'm new here and glad I found this friendly forum.

I really appreciate the quoted posted and all the other Passport/RDX comparisons. My wife and I bought an RDX Tech 6 weeks ago. While I was doing my research, for some reason the Passport didn't get on my radar. We were comparing RDX to Subaru Outback, CR-V, etc. The RDX is our first SUV and we really like it. We were coming from a 2001 CL-S and an older Saab. Packing the CL for our vacation trips with our English Springer Spaniel and sometimes a cat was a major packing challenge! Unreasonably, we thought that with the RDX we'd be able to just throw everything in, close the hatch and the pup would have the entire back seat. Um...not! We still had to do some "arranging" to get everything in. The smaller back seat had to go down, and the pup only got 60% of the back seat.

Having discovered the 2019 Passport after the fact makes me wonder. I haven't test driven one yet, but I'm tempted. The extra space is really appealing, but even though the RDX has only 4,000+ miles on it, we'd surely take a hit if we traded to a PP Touring or Elite.

We've had one serious "event" with the RDX. While on vacation, on hard acceleration she went into "limp mode" losing nearly all power. We pulled over, restarted, and everything's been fine since. By the time we got home, any stored codes had cleared and our excellent Acura Service Department couldn't find anything. I've opened a case with Acura and will try to reproduce this when it's safe to do so.

The "limp mode" issue notwithstanding, in the end, I suspect the RDX may be the better fit for us. We love the way it drives and it's a very comfortable quiet ride. But now I'm curious, and that's a dangerous thing! :)
I had a 2011 RDX Tech before I traded it in for the Honda Passport. The PP is just going to be way more comfortable for my two dogs! There is just a lot more room. I loved the way the RDX handled though, so I can imagine that your new car is really fun!
