I was quoted $40k before taxes/fees on an Elite model, so I am going to go in tomorrow and make the purchase. They were very hesitant initially on making a deal with me, but they changed their tune when I showed them quotes from competing dealerships.

I picked up my new Passport Elite today from Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, California. Very Happy.

Total price:
$44,252.32

Vehicle Price - $39,988
Doc Fee - $85
Total tax - $3,606.57
License Fees - $552.75
State Fees $20

They gave me $6k trade in for a beat up 2011 Acura RDX Turbo with AWD, and I'm happy with that. Best cash offer I had on the car was only $3400.

I'll post pics as I do work on it. I got the white exterior and the black interior.

Quick question for those who got Honda Care from Saccucci Honda. Can you get that from them even if you are on the West Coast? My dealer quoted me $2400 for Honda Care, and I said no thanks since I saw that I could get it from Saccucci Honda for $1395.

I live in Texas and I got my extended warranty from Sarcucci 8 yrs ago on my Acura. Only state I believe you cannot go out of state to get a Hondacare ext warranty is Florida...Dealers complained to Honda that they were losing business.
Thank you EDB - I'm definitely going to get it through them. Especially since there's the option to add it up to 6,000 miles.

Anyone tried using the quote from TrueCar as a starting point for bargaining? I'm in CA and in my area the dealers discount is between $3600 and $4000. Here's what a TrueCar offer breakdown looks like:

Passport Elite AWD
Base MSRP $43,680
Factory Installed Options+ $0
Freight Delivery Charge+ $1,045
Total MSRP $44,725
Certified Dealer MSRP Discount- $4,114
Subtotal before Dealer Fees & Accessories $40,611
Dealer Documentation Preparation Charge $85
TruePrice $40,696

This is not OTD, but is it a good price before adding on taxes + registration and whatnot?
This price is too high. I was able to get mine for just under $40k from Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, CA. I also saw Livermore Honda advertise one for $39400 after I already purchased mine.

As I've seen some others mention, the price is dependent on your location...specifically the supply and demand. Also, I've seen that dealerships are discounting their early stock (check the VIN number) and are much less likely to discount something greater that VIN 10,000 and beyond.
That is normal. That's why I thought I'd point out to nikhilxp64 what I paid in California. The Truecar prices when I was shopping were exactly the same as the numbers he saw. It makes sense that dealerships are discounting their early stock because they have been sitting there longer. It's supply and demand.

Hi lisuba - thanks for the reply. I'm in the same area and Anderson's quote through TrueCar came out to $40,988 before taxes and fees. Did you get yours with all taxes and fees for under 40k? Because that would be music to my ears :)
I did not get mine with all taxes and fees for under $40k. I did purchase it for $39,988 though, and the final price after taxes and fees was around $43k.

Im still waiting on any white or steel metallic to come in with at least a March production date... Still nothing. May just have to bite the bullet and get one and prepare for the inevitable AC and Radio problems.
BTW, this is for the daughter... But I like them so much that Ill probably get one next year, but I still luv my 2012 Rav4 limited 6 banger.
Attached is the most recent offer out the door. 7% tax rate here, no trade in that they know of yet.
The one that I got was manufactured in January 2019. Luckily no AC or radio problems yet. ***knock on wood***
