I also get the feeling that the Passport will not come in that much less than a comparable Pilot trim. The Passport is also a high-content SUV on the same platform as the Pilot. The shorter Passport does bring some added features that will most likely negate any savings from the removal of the rear seat and some sheetmetal. But I do think Honda will price the Passport marginally lower than the Pilot to quell the perception that it's "less car" and should cost less. As an example, the difference in price of a Chevy Silverado 1500 short bed vs. standard bed (all else being equal) is only $300.

Went to check out the Passport and this dealer (near L.A.) is asking $3000 on top of all the stuff they put on it. Yikes! If this is the norm I may have to get a Pilot instead :cautious:
These markups are ridiculous and anyone who pays for them has been ripped off. Avoid this kind of dealer at all costs. Buy your OEM accessories separately from online discounters.

A 4Runner of any trim would put a passport to shame off road
Sure, but I just can't see anyone who seriously needs the capabilities of a 4Runner to even consider the Passport. You either need a 4Runner (or "Trail-Rated" Jeep), or you need something much less than that. Most people don't need a 4Runner even though they think they're cool (they are!). When I buy the exact car I need, I find that I'm more satisfied and I keep the car longer. If my needs change, I swap out right away.

I agree, they do not seem to be moving many Passports off the lot
This is somewhat anecdotal and unscientific, but at the beginning of the month I was scouring Autotrader.com listings for pics of the Passport in it's various colors (for the official color threads I made). The number of active Passport listings is a fourth of what it originally was.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see the February sales reports to see exactly how many Passports (and Pilots) have really sold. I can't wait for those sales prices to fall!
