I read a post on the CR-V forums that someone tested the auto braking by putting a big foil-covered cardboard box in the road. They said it stopped, but I didn’t validate it. My wife was backing-up the CR-V one time, and didn’t pay attention to the camera, and the car stopped her from backing into the car behind her. One time I was driving the CR-V over a steel plate in road after it had rained — apparently the radar thought it was another car, and it stopped me quite abruptly — scared the heck out of me and the dog — thank goodness nobody was behind us (and we were going <20 mph). The electronics on the PP are better than the CR-V, so I’m not expecting the steel plate issue to reoccur, but I certainly think about it when I’m crossing one! I have also noticed odd “BRAKE” messages on the screen when a car in-front of me has turned ... but the message displays after they’ve turned. I think there’s some adjustment needed there.
I agree "some adjustment" is needed with the auto stop function. I't done it to me at least twice in the month I've had my passport and to be honest i think it is unsafe. I have been through the manual, talked to service, other honda people and it seems there is no way to deactivate it. It needs to be fine tuned somehow. Otherwise i am supremely happy with the vehicle......including the sound system.
